Bruno's POV

The sun beat down brightly on Bruno's back as the horse carrying him trudged along the road, kicking up dust in its wake. The animals that he and Felix had bought, while useful to the village, were making the trek back long and tedious.

However bad the trip was though, Bruno had only one thing on his mind.

Y/N.

He missed your smiles, your jokes, your steady presence around him. He hated that he had to be away from you now of all times, considering your condition. He could recall the moment you told him you were expecting triplets with perfect clarity...

"There are three." You said, gazing down at the floor, twiddling your thumbs nervously. He could only smile in response.

He had always wanted his own family. True, he had his mother, his sisters, brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews, but it was different to make his own.

After your first meeting, Bruno knew he would marry you. Now that you were pregnant, it was a dream come true. Three babies! Would they have his eyes? Your smile? He hoped they did.

His thoughts were interrupted by you sniffling.

"Hey, hey, shhh," he gathered you in his arms, cradling your head with one hand, "what's wrong, mi vida?"

"Oh Bruno, I'm happy, really, but," you paused to wipe away your tears, "I'm terrified."

Bruno's heart melted at the sound of your voice. Admittedly, you were the anchor of the two of you. You stood up to others, led the way while he was more than happy to follow. But even a pillar may fall, and when you married, he made a vow to be there for you when you needed him. He took his promises very seriously.

"I know you are, I am too," he kissed your forehead, "but we are in this together, there's nothing I wouldn't do for you."

You smiled, sniffing lightly, "looks like I'm going to be the size of a planet sooner than I thought. I hope you'll still kiss me."

Bruno scoffed, "You're glowing now, I can't imagine that I'll be able to resist you when you're all swollen with my children."

At his words, you had gotten a mischievous glint in your eye, signaling to him that he had said something right.

You leaned in and placed a hard, long kiss on his lips. Reaching up to cup your face, he returned it. He deepened the kiss, the two of you only breaking apart to start another.

You grabbed the front of his ruana, pulling him towards the room you shared. He knew where this dance was heading; he had gotten you pregnant, hadn't he?

Reaching down, he cupped your bottom and lifted you, taking you through the door—

"HEY LOOK!"

Bruno inwardly groaned at Felix's booming voice, but looked up to see what he was talking about.

Just ahead was the river and entrance to the valley. Soon, they would all be home.

"I bet you're excited," Felix trotted up next to Bruno on his own horse, "with y/n being in the third trimester and all."

"Hmm?" Bruno feigned innocence, but the blush creeping across his cheeks betrayed him. Felix continued without commenting on it.

"Oh I remember how Pepa was. Couldn't keep her satisfied for long enough!" Felix laughed loudly and patted Bruno on the back.

"That's my wife you're taking about!" Bruno jokingly threw back. Honestly though, the other man wasn't wrong. When he saw you, he was getting you alone as soon as possible. It had been too many sleepless nights without you, but he could sleep when he was dead when it came to you.
