Rita Skeeter was having a field day!
Never in her life had she, witnessed so many influential people gathering together, at the same place, at the same time, for the same cause; all to witness the trial of the one, Sirius Orion Black.
She had specially hired a cameraman, for today, to record every second of the legendary trial.
"Lady Longbottom," Rita flashed her professional smile to the haughty and strict, Augusta Longbottom, one of the many dignitaries of today's trial. "What are your views on this...sudden trial?" Rita questioned, her quick quill notes already on its job.
The cold looking old woman, regarded Rita with a look, that screamed that she was 'annoyed' with Rita, but the reporter, already used to it merely smiled wider. Seeing no way out, the old lady sighed slowly, before answering in a proper pureblood like manner, "I think...that this trial, will provide our fellow witches and wizards, who judge and comment blindly, with a new perspective...Miss Skeeter."
"So, you believe that Mr. Black was treated unjustly, 14 years ago, Lady Longbottom?" Rita continued the interview.
The old lady glared subtly, but answered nonetheless, "Yes, I do. The wizarding world, has not been at its best, in the recent years and neither are the people leading it....Many mistakes, whether knowingly or unknowingly have been made...and I hope that Black's trial is simply a foundation to correct those mistakes." A strange glint passed into the deep eyes of Augusta Longbottom. Before Rita could ask anymore, the old lady nodded at her and swiftly made her way towards the trial room.
Rita didn't mind, as she simply latched onto her next victim.
"Lord Lestrange!" the old man turned towards her, his face bare of any emotions as he nodded at her. "I wonder, if I could get your opinion...on this trial?"
Corvus Lestrange, regarded her with a calculative look. Rita, who had been often subjected to such looks, looked unfazed. Finally, did the old lord open his mouth, "I think...quite a few things...are going to change after this trial, Miss Skeeter. And...quite a few people are going to be bothered by it..." the lord answered, his expression thoughtful.
"Would you mind elaborating, Lord Lestrange?" Rita gestured for the cameraman, to take closer pictures of them. To his credit, the Lestrange lord simply smiled politely as he shook his head sideways, "Pardon me, but I think not now, Miss Skeeter." with that the handsome old man excused himself, he too making his way towards the steadily filling, trial room.
Rita scanned the crowd for other influential faces. Soon, her face broke into a wide grin as she spotted just the man, who could help spice up her article. She carefully approached her target, making sure that he would not be able to avoid her, as she greeted him happily, "Minister Fudge! How simply, wonderful to see you! Today must, simply be my luckiest day to have bumped into you!" she shot arrows of flattery towards the gullible minister, who like she had expected, preened under them.
"Miss Skeeter," the man addressed her with a proud smile, and approval in his eyes. "You flatter me."
"Oh my! The minister's modesty amazes me!" Rita continued trapping the man, into her web of words. The man's smiles got wider, as he noticed the cameraman, who was focusing solely on him.
Rita hid a smirk, as she launched her attacks, "Minister Fudge, if I may?" Rita asked, courteously. The happy minister, nodded at her and this time Rita couldn't help the smirk that broke out on her lips, "Would you mind, briefing us about your views on this trial?" at once, the portly little man stiffened up, his smile turning forced. If Rita had to be honest, the man almost looked annoyed.
