Chapter two

I forgot to mention that some scenes will be different from the dream to make things more logical and bc I can't remember some parts lol

Once back at camp you set down the equipment that you had been carrying. As you started to stretch you heard footsteps come up from behind you. "Um- (Y/n)?..." A small voice came from behind you, a voice that you could only recognize as Sucrose's. Turning, you gave the young female a soft and kind smile, "Yes Sucrose? Is there anything you need?" "Oh-  yes. Albedo wants me to tell the others that we will be heading back to our planets tomorrow, they said something about not wanting us to suffer from any affects due to the abyss's atmosphere." She stated as confidently as she could. You felt your eyes widen, "Well that's great. We get to see our friends and family again." You said while chuckling. Sucrose gave you a small smile and a nod before walking to tell the others.

Once she left you went in to the room you had been staying in, it was simple and had very little decorations. You couldn't bring that much on the trip here so you only brought a few books for you to study with and a picture of your close friends. Honestly that was the only thing that you truly needed, the colony leaders supplied the group with food, water and shelter, along with a temporary lab to run test in. Unpacking the things in the bag you had brought on the small exploration you saw the bundled up cloth in the very bottom. Picking the cloth up you thought for a second before deciding that you could run tests tomorrow at home. It would have better Equipment there and you could do it without any questions from nosy coworkers. Once you were finally finishing with sorting and putting away your things you sighed, going to your bathroom to clean yourself up before bed.

You awoke to a knock at your door. Letting out a grumble you rub your eyes to try and get rid of the tiredness. "What?" A chuckle came from the other side of the door, "Morning sleepyhead! Get up and get dressed so we can have breakfast before we return home." Aether was the one that had woke you, like usual. Sitting up you reply, "Fine, just give me a minute." And with that you got to work, putting on casual clothes before grabbing a hoodie from the closet.

Opening the door the first thing you see is a smiling blonde. Throwing on the hoodie you started to walk to the cafeteria area in the ship, Aether followed close behind. "I have no idea how you have so much energy this early after having to walk all day yesterday." You say as Aether continues to smile. The blonde laughed at the statement, "Yeah, I guess I'm just happy i get to see lumine again." Humming in response as the both of you turn into the cafeteria seeing many familiar faces. Aether grabs some teyvat fried eggs while you settled for some (f/f). "Hey there's Sucrose and Albedo!" You both sit beside the researchers, saying your hellos before eating. As all four of you talked, Aether decided to ask, "How did the others take to the news of going home?" Each researcher seemed to have a similar response, so you decided to voice your question. "Why do you think they want to have us return now? Why not have us return earlier?" Aether shrugged while Albedo started to answer. "Well seeing as our results in the question of safety of this planet, it might be that they became aware of the dangers that the environment could have on humans and hope to stop any kind of serious side effects before they happen. The minor side effects would be easier to cure or stop then the major ones." A silence followed the chief researcher's statement. You grumbled, "Albedo, it's to early for you to make me start worrying about my health." Aether let out a laugh, "In age or time of day?"
"Both."

Preparing to leave this planet was simple: check surrounding area for changes, make sure supplies is packed and put into place within the ship, do diagnostics on the ship's systems, prepare navigation, etc. Ok maybe not that simple but it was simple if everyone is doing something different and finished their tasks on time. You got the task of making sure everything and everyone was on board. Packing things that needed to be moved and adding checks to a list. You scanned along the list a couple of times before realizing, a piece of equipment had been misplaced. "Fuck" Pushing a button on the mic in your hand you called for Albedo to answer, soon enough he did, "Yes? Is something missing?"
"Yeah, I know were it probably is so give me a minute I'm going to step outside the ship real quick."
"Ok, be careful and be back quickly."

After putting on a mask and suit you stepped out of the ship, making your way to the area you knew would have the missing equipment. Sighing as you finally saw the object in question.

You bend over to pick it up, only to hear a soft growl when you reached to grab it. Your eyes widened as you quickly lifted your head and looked around searching for where this sound came from. When you saw nothing that could have made the growl, you thought that it might have been your mind playing tricks on you. Quickly grabbing it, before you begin turning and walking back, yet you could feel a sense of unease.
