It was dark in my backyard, but the porch light was on. I had a glass of water in my hand. My parents were asleep, seeing as it was a little past midnight. I couldn't sleep. School exams were next week, and I just couldn't fail those. I sighed. I've been out here for about twenty minutes just hoping to get sleepy. I wasn't.
I grabbed my phone off the small wooden table next to me and scrolled through my playlist. My Chemical Romance played softly through my phone. I know, not the best music to get you sleepy but I was bored and I probably wasn't going to get tired anytime soon.
A rustling in the woods made my head snap up in surprise. Yes, we had woods in the backyard, the woods took up half of it even and ran all the way to I don't even know where.
The most beautiful boy I've ever seen stepped out of the woods and started walking to where I'm sitting. I was so mesmerized by his features, I didn't even stop to wonder why he was in the woods in the first place. All I was thinking about were his bright green eyes. They were so green they looked like that spray on grass stuff. His lips were a bright red, like they were permanently stained with fruit punch or something. His hair was jet black and curly and went just below his ears. Wow.
I looked down at myself trying to decide if I was decent. I was still wearing my clothes from today. Okay.
The boy was probably eighteen, but I was seventeen so there wasn't much of an age difference.
"Why are you in my yard?" I blurted. Great. I blew it. I'm such an idiot. I say the most stupid things when I'm nervous. But the boy just laughed. It was melodic.
"I came to get you," he said. I just looked at him. Get me for what?
"What is your name, child?" He asked me. Child? We were like the same age. I frowned at him.
"Diana," I said.
"Diana, come with me. Let us go to the park. I would like to show you something."
Never talk to strangers, My mom's voice wrung through my head, but I pushed that thought aside.
"Okay." I shoved my phone inside my jean jacket. He held out his hand and I took it. It was cold. I almost pulled back in surprise.
Washington D.C. was usually a very crowded and busy place even at one o'clock in the morning, but the streets were completely empty near the park. Strange.
But I didn't think much about that, because I was suddenly spun around and pulled against the boys chest, my back facing him. I felt cold breath near my right ear. I was startled.
"You will be a fine vampire," he said and his lips pressed against my neck. Vampire?
I gasped when he bit down on my flesh, but yelled in pain when he broke the skin and punctured my vein.
I screamed, but my voice was hoarse. I felt my legs give out and I sunk to the ground, the boy still has me in his grip.
His mouth left my neck and he grabbed my wrist and broke the skin there too. I felt my eyes starting to close and I was too weak to scream. He kept puncturing more skin, breaking into more veins, my neck again, my other wrist, my forearms. I felt myself slipping into unconsciousness, my body was on fire. Droplets of blood, my blood rolled down my body. Before my eyes closed for good, the boys face swam into my vision, and his eyes were no longer blue but red, like blood. He smiled. It was terrible, blood stained the bottom half of his face.
"Diana."
My eyes closed.

VampireI don't remember before. When I was human. I don't remember what it was like to not crave blood. I don't remember not wanting to kill. Heck, I don't even remember my name. I made one up, like every other vampire. That's what I am. But I'm not just a...
