Demis POV

Today has been such a long and busy day, but I did promise my best friend Matthew that we would go out tonight. So here we are at the club sitting in the VIP section with some friends chatting and relaxing. Really though, I just want to crawl into bed and sleep. We've been here for about an hour, and I felt a little bored. The club scene just isn't my thing so much anymore. I get up from my seat and walk over to the railing, looking at the dance floor watching bodies dance and grind closely together. My eyes slowly make their way around the club till they land on someone sitting in a booth somewhat close to the stairs, reading a book? I gotta say thats a first Ive seen in a club.

I look more and its a woman, sitting comfortably reading like she doesnt recognize anything around her but the book. She's wearing a hoodie and probably jeans, looks like she has a fuller figure, but it suits her. Her glasses are cute too. I stare and just watch her, Im intrigued. I must have been watching for a while for Matthew to sneak up next to me.

"Whatcha doing Demi" he asked.

"Wha-what? Oh nothing, just looking." I stuttered.

"Looking at what?" he asked.

"Her" I say pointing to the girl. "Idk Matt there's just something about her that intrigues me. Look at her, just sitting in a club reading. Never seen that before. Something just seems different about her."

"Well why don't you go talk to her?" he asked.

I thought about it, but I didnt want to bother her, she looks so peaceful. That peacefulness didnt last long though. Three women came up to the table and a brunette with black leather pants grabbed the book from her. The girl looked up, eyes wide and fearful before she calmed down and frowned. A few minutes later, the blonde grabbed the readers hand and dragged her to the dance floor. Poor girl looked so uncomfortable. The woman in the leather pants gave her back her book and the girl quickly put it in her back pocket.

"She does not look like she wants to be on that dance floor" Matthew sighs as he leans against the railing.

I could only nod my head in agreement as I continued to watch her. The three women surrounded the girl and started to dance, trying to get her to dance as well. After some hesitation, the girl started to slowly sway to the beat and then dancing with each of the women. Looks like she loosened up a little but not much. She stayed out there for a half before she stopped and said something to them before making her way back to the booth while the others continued to dance. The mystery girl sat down and took a sip of her drink before pulling her book out and started reading.

"Dems nows your chance to go talk to her" Matt nudged me to go towards the stairs. I started to think but then I just said fuck it and made my way towards the stairs.

I walked confidently down the stairs but as I got closer to the booth, I started to get a little nervous. Why the heck am I nervous, I'm just gonna talk to her. I looked at her as I approached her and she looked adorable as she read, nothing could bother her. I slid in next to her and looked over to her.

"Mind if I sit with you?" I asked her.

The mystery girl jerked her head up, startled by my words and looked over. She just looked at me for a minute before she spoke.

"You can sit here" she said, and I could barley here her over the music. She's a shy one.

"I'm Demi. What's your name?" I ask her.

"I'm Ever" she says as she closes her book and holds onto it.

"Nice to meet you Ever. What are you reading?" I ask. She holds the book so I can see the cover.
