Mike Wheeler never really hated El hopper...
They just happened to run in different crowds.
El Hopper was the Cheerleader, Valedictorian, And Teachers pet.
And Mike Wheeler was the leader of the AV Club, Part of the Hellfire Club, and he always had his head in a computer screen.
El Hopper never really hated Mike Wheeler...
He was her brothers dorky best friend that always played D&D with Will during the weekends during their Junior year of HighSchool.
The one that always made fun of her and pulled her pigtails when they were both kids.
The one that walked her home freshman year because Troy catcalled her in the hallway and said he would follow her home later. Making El uncomfortable and Mike more protective.
Mike was Mike.
El was El.
They were childhood acquaintances. Forced to hangout and play at each other's houses with each others toys because their parents said so.
As they got older, they started hanging out less and less. They started arguing and picking fun at each other more.
They started looking at each other differently and by that time El had gone through puberty and Mikes voice got deeper.
She started dressing differently, causing Mike to glance at her legs as she would walk by. He would quickly snap out of it when he remembered who it was.
And she noticed him too...the way he would have his shirt off to mow the lawn. Now he wasn't extremely muscular or anything but he did have muscle where it counted.
She would always stop and look when she would happen to be walking by his house at the end of the cul-de-sac.
El would stop and stare at him, whatever he was doing outside: trimming the bushes, weed wacking, mowing the lawn (her all time favorite), washing his car (also her favorite), and him simply doing sidewalk chalk with his little sister (holly).
She would only watch as she walked past the wide stretch of concrete blacktop. Then she would disappear between houses and walk to her house one street over.
That was the only communication they had or times they saw each other. Besides the bickering, the interaction's in class, and the way they had Will in common which was a...similar trait between the two.
That was until the summer before Senior year. El had noticed things, things she overlooked before...about Mike.
Mike noticed things about El too...and he didn't seem to want to hide those urges anymore...
The summer of senior year is when it all began...
