Name origin: The Stormwing tribe was named after their ability to control the weather around them, as well as their grey appearance, which is often compared to the color of stormy skies.

Tribe origin: The Stormwings have almost no similarities to other tribes, but they do have some distant blood with the Starwings. It is believed that the two tribes must have split apart several thousand years before the Awakening, and by now they are two completely unique tribes. This ancient ancestry is the only connection that has been made between any two tribes on Pangaia.

Build and traits: Stormwings have a rather average build, with no particularly large or small limbs or bodies. However, they do have quite a few differences that set them apart. Most notably, Stormwings are much more spiky than other dragons. They have many more spines going down their back, and they are significantly sharper than normal. The spines lay flat and are usually out of the way, but they stand up whenever the Stormwing feels threatened. There is also a cluster of spikes on the end of their tails, giving Stormwings a natural weapon of sorts in the form of a spiked club. Stormwings also have spines protruding from between the scales of their back and their underbelly, which behave the same way as the spines on their back. On the end of their snouts, they also have not one, but two horns. Also, Stormwing claws are generally considered sharper than that of the other dragon tribes. The last unique trait of the Stormwings relates to the powerful elemental variants of the tribe, as each element has some very interesting traits of their own. The Wind elementals have scales that are cold to the touch, as if a gentle breeze is constantly flowing over their scales, and these dragons are always quite lightweight for their size. Rain elementals are odd, as their scales absorb water directly into the dragon's body, and even automatically filters it, which means that these dragons can effectively breath underwater for short bursts. Unfortunately, this process is not quick enough to replace the need to breathe, so coming up for air is necessary, but sometimes those extra few seconds can save you. Rain dragons also seem to float really well in water. And lastly, Lightning dragons literally have arcs of electricity dancing all over their body, expressing the excess amount of power coursing through their veins. Anything that comes in contact with a Lightning elemental's scales will receive a small shock as a result of this. Lightning dragons are also completely immune to any negative effects of coming into contact with lightning, or really any form of flowing electricity, though it may tickle a bit.

Colors: Stormwing scales are always in varying shades of grey, though sometimes they can have small tints of other colors in their grey scales. They also have similar colors on their wings and their many spikes and horns. Their eyes come in various shades of blue, though on rare occasions can be bright yellow (this has no impact on their sight and has no correlation with their abilities, it's just a rare occurrence). The Stormwing's underbellies are usually a much darker grey, oftentimes near black, but the different elemental variants of the Stormwings have some unique underbelly colors, which interestingly enough, are dynamic. No one knows for sure how the scales change color, but it's quite interesting to watch. The Air elementals have the appearance of a midday sky, with whispy clouds that slowly move along. The Rain elemental dragons have the appearance of flowing water moving down their underbelly. And finally, Lightning dragons have black underbellies with flashes of bright lightning that occasionally strike across it.

Abilities: Most Stormwings have the ability to somewhat control the weather. They can summon storms, create and move wind, cause lightning to strike, and so on. However, their abilities are limited by the unpredictability of nature. They cannot control exactly where lightning strikes, nor control the magnitude of a tsunami. They can only influence the weather, not completely control it. However, that is only the majority of the tribe. There is a group of dragons that have more control over a specific element of the storms, causing them to be crazy powerful. These dragons are referred to as the Elemental Apprentices. It is an ability that can be passed through genetics, but it can also come up randomly. It takes a lot of training to unlock the full potential of an Elemental Apprentice, and these dragons often have to dedicate their lives to it. If a dragon is an Elemental Apprentice, they lose all control over the weather, and can only control their specific element. However, they have much more control over that specific thing. Once an Elemental Apprentice has finished their training, with the blessing of the queen, can become the Master of their element and join the queen's council. A Master has total control over their element, and therefore are the most powerful dragons in the tribe. There are three Stormwing elements, each with entirely unique looks and abilities.
Wind Master- At full power, these dragons are able to control the wind and air itself. They can use winds to boost their flying speed, slow down enemies, create massive shockwaves of energy, cause tornados to form, and so on. No, they cannot move all air away from a dragon's face to suffocate them. They can only make the air feel thinner, not completely remove it.
Rain Master- Despite their name, the Rain Master is not limited to only rain. They can control the movement of water as a whole, and even control the temperature. So they can summon any amount of rain, snow, hail, and so on. They can also flash-freeze or boil any water in an instant, make water currents faster or slower, and even just flat-out waterbend. They also have a dangerous, while mostly unknown, ability that allows them to control a dragon's blood flow, but this can only be done if the dragon has an open wound that allows the Rain Master to come in contact with their blood.
Lightning Master- The elusive Lightning Master can control lightning strikes; the location, magnitude, and overall power of the strike. They do not require an existing storm to make these appear, so strikes caused by a Lightning Master are summoned from the air itself. They are also immune to any damage that could normally be caused by lightning. They also have another odd ability, which is that they can travel between lightning bolts. Any lightning strikes that they cause, they can travel between in an instant, and they can take other dragons with them. This allows for a sort of teleportation method. It's very hot and unpleasant, but effective.
