Don't Leave Me

The weather was wonderful, perfect for a picnic with your boyfriend, Aoi Todou. He promised you that this weekend would be about you two. Even taking you out of town to rent a small cabin for the weekend. Yet, he kept taking work calls, disappearing once at night. Stating he needed to drive into town due to bad reception. It was a poor excuse. One you barely believed, but no matter how much you complained and tried to remind him this was a couples weekend. He still ignored you for work. You had managed to get Todo to agree to stay a few days longer. Telling him he owed it. He had ruined the romantic weekend, it was his own doing. You were owed at least three extra days.

This picnic was supposed to be cute, romantic. Just you two having lunch by the river. It was nice, it was, but your boyfriend seemed to ignore you. Instead of taking call after call and checking his phone. It was when he had ignored your question for the fifth time that you were fed up and left. Storming off towards the cabin. Staying longer was a clear mistake. The two of you should have just left yesterday like you were supposed to.

Ignoring his calls for you as you made your way back up the path to the cabin. Tears were forming in your eyes. It was dumb, he was being mean and disrespectful. It was useless to cry. It never made any difference. He would always simply just apologize, but then go back to how he was before. All you could do was enjoy the rest of the days you still had here and ignore him. Todou appeared a few moments after you in the cabin, with the remains of the picnic. His apology held no weight.

"Look, I'm sorry, but you know I work a lot."

That wasn't an apology. You didn't want to hear this, getting up you left the room to go to the bathroom. The rest of the afternoon was like that. His words were ignored or met with a dry remark back. Not even calling him for dinner when you finished cooking it. Letting his plate get could while he was out taking another call. Walking in he saw you in the kitchen cleaning up after dinner. His cold plate on the table.

"Why didn't you call and tell me dinner was ready" You shrugged in response. Todo took a deep breath and walked to his plate. Going to warm it up in the microwave beside you. After placing his plate in the microwave, he attempted to slip his hands around your waste."Look I know you're mad-" You dodged his embrace and left for the bedroom. Giving him a quiet "enjoy" as you exited the room.

You missed his expression. The anger boiling behind his eyes. Rising at how you avoided him, refused to accept his apology. You used to get it. Be understanding about his work, how busy he was. Sure you didn't really know what he did, but the cover of him working in an office should be enough. Office people work overtime right, so why can't you accept his busy life. After all, it's been like this for months. Todou was thinking of what should you two talk about tonight. How could he make you happy?As he entered the bedroom you were about to get up to leave. Making up an excuse to go finish cleaning the kitchen or living room.

"No. We need to talk" His arm blocked the doorway.

"What is there to talk about? You obviously care more about your job than spending quality time with your partner." Your attempt to leave again was halted.

"No. That's not true and you know it." You laughed at his remark, trying to leave again only to be stopped once again.

"I don't want to talk about it." You sounded defeated and upset by him. "Obviously this weekend wasn't about us. Even the extra few days are probably going to be useless."

You shoved harder against his arm. Even ducking under his arm to get away. Todou moved to have his whole body blocking the doorway now. Keeping you caged in the bedroom.

"No, this weekend was about us. I-I was just busy. I'm sorry. Babe..."

His apology was worthless right now. He had apologized after the first day, but no change came of it. Tears were once again welling up in your eyes. How could he act like a simple sorry would fix everything? After all, there was no change to come of his words. It was only to make you and him feel better. Make it seem like he feels bad about making you upset.
