"Shit," I say and JJ looks confused.

"What your parents don't care that I stay here," he says still confused.

"Yeah but they care when I don't take care of things around the house. And I forgot to get groceries thrice!" I say concerned.

"Well we can just take care of that stuff tomorrow," JJ says.

I just decide to let him reassure me even though I know my parents won't like the idea. So we walk in and big surprise they're pissed.

"What the hell Rose!!!" my mom yells at me, "why haven't you taken care of things around here. We trusted you."

"You didn't trust me you just couldn't care less about me so you leave me alone for days and expect everything to be perfect when you get back! Well, guess what? This time it's not!" I yell in response.

"Don't you dare talk to your mother that way!" my father says like I care.

"No. You guys may have birthed me and everything but you are not my parents okay? She is not my mother!" I yell back at this point JJ is just standing there not knowing what to do. He usually stands up for me but I think he realizes that this is my battle that I want to fight on my own.

"If you're not our daughter then get out of my house! GO!" my mother says.

"At this point, it feels like my house because I do everything to take care of it and make sure everything is okay!!!" I say, "You guys couldn't live a day without me and you know it."

At this point the pair are speechless and I'm pretty sure they don't have anything else they can really say to me because they knew that they would just be gone tomorrow and everything would go back to normal.

Me and JJ just let them stay speechless there and go up to my room.

"That was intense," JJ says looking at me concerned.

"Oh yeah sorry you had to see that happens once in a while and I always feel like shit after but things always just go back to normal. It's kinda like... a pattern," I said to him nonchalantly.

"Rose."

"What?"

"Are you okay?"

"I'm fine. It happens like every month don't worry."

"You shouldn't have to go through that."

"I'm fine."

"Your lying."

"I'm not."

"Look at me," he says grabbing my face and pulling it to look at his, "this shouldn't be happening it's basically child neglect."

I start tearing up realizing I really never had a parental figure in my life at all and it kinda crushed me at that moment.

Realizing all this I started sobbing but JJ comforted me and I was able to get to sleep.

----------

In the morning my parents were obviously gone but I decided to not let it bother me or not let it show. I also decided that I needed to get shit done so I woke up at like dawn and cleaned the house, got everything in order and shit. You would really think my parents would hire a maid but no they think I can learn valuable lessons from doing all of the work.

JJ got up around 10:00 and by that time all I needed to do is get the groceries.

"Morning sleepyhead," I said to him as he opened his eyes.

"Morning Rose, how are you doing?" he asked referring to the events from the night before.

"Fine, I got everything done except the groceries so get a move on," I say but he still looks concerned.
