The night had been so quiet besides the occasional honk of a passing car or a door shutting from a nearby neighbor. No matter how peaceful, however, you just could not sleep. Maybe it was your boyfriends snores, or maybe it was the pain you felt through your whole body.

You didn't want to tell your loving boyfriend about what had happened, it would only make the situation worse.

He shuffled around the sheets until he was on his stomach. One arm hanging off the side of the bed and the other one laying on your waist. You turned your head to see his peaceful face.

He was always so busy with being the Red Hood that he seemed to forget to take a break and be Jason Todd. The late night visits or the common injury never let you rest. You would never let Jason see how tired you were. He didn't need another burden on his exhausted shoulders.

It never ceased to amaze you the amount of stress he can handle. Here you were, sore and tired and simply worn out all because of your office job. It couldn't compare to what Jason had to deal with everyday, yet, it seemed to cause you nearly as much stress. Not to mention the incident that happened with your coworker.

You sigh and caress his cheek. You place a light kiss to his lips before carefully removing his arm from your waist. You placed it beside him and hastily got out of bed. On this night of all nights, the floorboards were especially creaky.

Once finally making it out of the bedroom, making as little of noise as you can, you head to the kitchen. You decided it would be better if you kept the lights off while you made yourself a small ice pack. While placing the ice in the small baggy you thought it may be a good idea to make a heating pad as well. While the faucet was heating up you grabbed some Ibuprofen and downed two of the small tablets.

The heated bag was placed on your cramping legs while the ice pack was placed on the bruise forming on your stomach. You decided to sit against the refrigerator door so the cold of the freezer could help the bruise on your beck and neck.

There was a slight creak coming from the hallway leading to the kitchen and your head shot up. Before any actions could be made or planned the kitchen light came on. You squinted at the sudden light and blinked a few times. Once your eyes adjusted you saw Jason standing in the doorway. He was quick to be by your side.

No real worry was on his face while he helped your injuries, only a blank expression. You decided against protesting to his help, seeing as he was already acting weird. You couldn't make eye contact with him from the disappointment you felt in yourself. It wasn't the first time you've kept something like this from him. Last time he was a little disappointed but helped you. Now, you couldn't tell.

He lifted your shirt to see the bruise and you saw his face contort to a look of anger. He barely touched the corner of the bruise and you grabbed his hand while sucking in a sharp breathe from the pain. He looked to you and you looked away shamefully. He looked back to the bruise and bit his lip in deep thought. You were nervous for what he may say.

Instead he stood up and took the melted ice bag from you. He dumped it out and started getting new ice. The anxiety that crept through your bones was maddening.
"Jason please say something" He didn't even give you a glance. He zipped the bag and sat down beside you, facing you. He placed the bag on your bruise and you hissed in pain once again. You squeezed your eyes shut and let the ice become a normal feeling before you let out a small sigh. You opened your eyes to see Jason already looking at you.

"Why do you do this?" He asked. You were taken back by the question and pondered the correct answer for a moment.
"Your always so busy with being the Red Hood and saving people that I didn't think you would need to deal with this. Being a vigilante is enough stress, you don't need my problems to deal with as well" You admitted. Jason put his tongue to the side of his mouth and let out a bitter laugh.
"That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard you say.." You were shocked and a bit angry at his response. Before you could reply Jason had taken the ice pack from your stomach and pointed to it.
"This shit is my problem. When someone messes with you or shit from work stresses you out, it's my problem. When you sneak around like a fucking ninja to avoid showing me your injuries, that my problem. You help me with my stress and injuries all the time, yet you take the option of letting me help you away from me. You don't even let me make the decision to help you, you make that decision for me. That shit is done. This will not happen again. Do you understand me? You will let me help you, you will let me be your anker" You sat there with tears streaming down your face. He was right. You knew he was right.

He sighed and gently pulled you into his chest. Loud sobs racked out from your shaking figure.
"I'm sorry Jason.. I'm so sorry" You sobbed. He closed his eyes and pet your hair. He kissed your head and nuzzled his nose into your hair.
"I know baby, I know. It's alright" He said. You mumbled thank you after thank you and held on tightly to Jason's shirt.

Jason was enraged at the asshole who did this to you. He knew you had some bad coworkers who came close to putting their hands on you, but he guessed they finally snapped. That's too bad for them, now they'll lose their life because of their own stupidity.

For now, however, he would focus on you. He was angry at your actions as well. But he knew this was only a step in building your trust to be stronger. Somehow he knew things would be different, and you knew it too. The change wouldn't be scary, and both of you were content with whatever was to come from these changes.
