I'm not sure about the reason, but Oliver suddenly presented me with a gift. He stated firmly that I'm not allowed to reject and to make use of it. When I asked what it was, he presented me with a key and a deed.

I sat still. I've always known they are generous people and money is never an issue with them. Still... isn't a house and lot too much?

When I talked to my mom about it, she's baffled as well. We're living in an apartment. It's big enough for the two of us. I'm not picky since I only go home to sleep and rest.

When I saw Lee the following week, she insisted on it as well. She even offered to help us transfer. I had to decline the excess offer and promise we'll move in soon.

It's such a big house. As big as Oliver's. It didn't take much to move in. My mom was fascinated by the whole place, especially the kitchen and the garden. I think that will keep her busy for a while.

Both Oliver and Lee have been honest. They mentioned that they might be too busy in the coming months that they'll leave the company matters to me and Aya. Oliver assured me that I can contact him anytime for any major decision that I need confirmation with. I'm both flattered and embarrassed when he told me that he trusts my judgment and that I can make the decisions about the company on my own. To be honest, I haven't felt that way before. I only did my best to earn a good reputation and to be trusted by the top management. All to earn good money, too. I'm a realist. I'm ambitious. But I know my limits. I'm already satisfied being the executive assistant of a huge company's CEO. To be entrusted by that CEO to manage the company while he's gone? That's more than honor.

Aya picked up her pace at work. I transferred a few more tasks to her in the following weeks. She did look a bit rattled at first. Those times where she teases me also lessened. I almost missed them. Almost.

The downside? I sighed. I'm now working inside Oliver's office, occupying his table, while Aya stayed outside in the assistant's office. When we worked together outside, she would find ways to get my attention, just to tease me and annoy me. I feel somewhat unsettled. I could almost admit that working in the office is boring, and she makes it lively somewhat. I must have been looking forward to her teasing to dispel the dullness of work. I mean, the work is challenging and meaningful, but... she's defined fun in a new way.
