I couldn't stop the goofy grin forming on my lips.

I clutched the object onto my hand and admired it like it was the most precious thing in the world. It was a silver necklace. The heart pendant had the letter 'L' engraved on it's surface. It was beautiful. This was probably the smallest but meaningful thing ever. 

I felt ecstatic, in this moment of time.

I took my eyes off the necklace and picked up the envelop that was lying on the bed. I opened it up and read the card.

Happy Belated Birthday! I'm sorry the necklace isn't all that. I'd thought this time, I would get something meaningful and beautiful like you, at first I thought this was perfect, but nothing is as perfect as you. I didn't know what to get you but I hope you know that the thought counts and also understand how much I care about you.

God. You don't understand how much I love you, my feelings for you are so real and deep. I'd honestly do anything for you. I really hope your step mum or dad don't see this or else you know you'll be in shit. Ha!

Remember, we can be miles apart and no matter where you are, you'll always be in my heart.

Anyway, I just want to tell you that I will always love you no matter what. I hope you like the gift.

My cheeks flushed pink and I couldn't help myself from reading the card over and over again. A knock on the door interrupted me from my trance as I hurriedly hid the necklace and card under my pillow.

"Who is it?" I called out.

"It's God." The person behind the door answered.

I rolled my eyes. The only person who would answer stupidly was the one and only Alex, my older brother.

"Come in." I mumbled as I sat up straight on my bed and crossed my legs.

"Hey twat." He greeted me which caused me to roll my eyes again.

"You bothering me must mean you're bored. Am I right?" I stated, quirking my eyebrows.

He slumped down on my bed, pushing the side of the mattress, I was sitting on, down.

"You know it sis." He replied with a huge smile on his face.

An awkward silence lifted in the air, but after a few seconds Alex decided to break it off.

"So, what was in the package? Weed from Rihanna and Chris?" He chuckled.

My brother is so lame and immature. He's eighteen, but sometimes it's like I'm older than him although he is only two years older than me.

"None of your business, you plonker." I said while nudging him with my elbow.

"Ouch!" He whined while rubbing his elbow, faking that he actually got hurt.

"Stop being such a baby, Lexi." I teased him.

Alex can be such a girl at times, that's why I called him Lexi which aggravated him so much.

"Alex, are you sure you're a boy?" I said as I smirked at him.

"Luce, maybe it's you that acts like a man. Anywhore, I'm going to tell dad about what you said to me." He replied as he stuck his tongue out at me while walking out my room.

I chuckled at how immature my older brother was.

As soon as my brother stepped outside my room, I quickly grabbed the card and put it back in the envelop. I got the necklace out from under my pillow and looked at it, tracing my thumb around the surface of the pendant. 

I delicately put the necklace on. I was being ever so gentle with it because I didn't want to break the chain. I loved it. 

I wasn't sure if I should put it on, because if I did, I know people would ask me who it's from but then again I really wanted to wear it. 

I suddenly remembered about my phone. 

I rummaged through my bag, trying to find my phone. It's a mission trying to find my phone when it's in my school bag. When I finally found it, I dropped my bag onto the floor and threw myself on my bed. As I looked at my phone, on the homepage it read that I had 25 messages.
