I found myself in the hospital room where Ace was being treated. The sight of him lying there, unconscious, tore at my heart. I approached his bed, my hands shaking, and took his hand in mine.
"Please wake up, I can't lose you," I whispered, my voice choked with emotion. I squeezed his hand, hoping for any sign that he could hear me.
I thought I felt a slight movement in his hand, but it might have been my imagination playing tricks on me. Tears welled up in my eyes as I fought to keep my composure. I couldn't bear the thought of losing him.
Just as I was about to turn away, I felt someone touch my hands. I looked up to see Ace slowly opening his eyes. Relief washed over me, and I couldn't help but pull him into a tight hug.
"Don't ever scare me like that again," I murmured, my grip on him refusing to loosen.
"Can't... breathe," he managed to choke out, and I immediately released him, embarrassed.
"Shit, I'm sorry. Are you okay? Are you hurt?" I babbled out.
He gently placed his hand on my jaw and turned my gaze towards him. "I'm fine," he said softly, his eyes locked onto mine.
"I'm so sorry. This is all my fault," I admitted, my gaze dropping to the floor.
He shook his head, his expression serious. "This is not your fault, alright? It's that fucker's fault who was following me and made me crash."
"But—" I began, only to be cut off by his stern glare.
"Not. Your. Fault," he repeated firmly, his eyes narrowing.
I gulped and nodded hesitantly.
Before I could say anything else, I hurried out of the room to call the doctor, needing to focus on something other than my guilt.
As the doctor finished checking up on Ace, I asked him about his condition. I couldn't help but glare at the nurse who seemed to be looking at Ace like he was a piece of meat.
"He's in perfect shape. We just need to do a full body checkup to be on the safe side," the doctor informed us.
The nurse approached to carry out the checkup, but I quickly raised my hand to halt her progress. "No way is she doing a full body checkup on him," I declared, annoyance evident in my tone.
Ace rolled his eyes. "Fine, get us another nurse then."
After the examination, we were relieved to find out that Ace was in good shape. We were finally able to take him home after he was released from the hospital.
As we settled in the penthouse, Ace wasted no time in pulling me into a passionate kiss. After a while we broke apart, both of us breathless.
"I missed you so much, bambina," he confessed, his eyes locking onto mine.
"I missed you more," I countered with a smile.
"Impossible," he playfully argued, peppering my face with kisses that made me giggle.
As the night wore on, Ace wrapped a protective arm around my waist and drew me closer to him. The sense of safety was comforting, and I soon fell asleep.

I woke up later, finding myself on a bed. I realized that Ace must have carried me here after we fell asleep on the couch. As I reached for my phone, I noticed a new text message notification. I opened the message with a sense of foreboding.
Well, since lover boy is alive, leave him: Unknown
My heart sank. I knew I had to do this.
How: Me
You'll figure it out tomorrow, and then you come back to Russia: Unknown
I knew I had to do whatever it took to keep Ace safe, even if it meant hurting him. My thoughts were interrupted as Ace entered the room, concern etched on his face.
"Are you okay, baby?" he asked, giving me a worried look.
"Yeah, just tired," I replied, forcing a smile. He patted the bed beside him, and I joined him.
"Goodnight," he said softly, and I wished him a goodnight as well.
"I love you forever," I whispered to him, my heart heavy with the weight of what was to come.
"Until forever runs out," he replied and kissed me
"Until forever runs out," I repeated back.
