Imagine taking the bus to work with Steven. You both have to stand since the area is packed due to the early morning rush which, unfortunately, was normal. It was exhausting at times. You guys were exhausted. But, it was mainly Steven who had a harder time keeping his eyes open because of his "staying awake" record he played back to back throughout the night. Last night in particular was one of the evenings you slept at his apartment, so you had no choice but to listen to it as well.

Luckily, you were given the benefit of being a somewhat heavy sleeper. Some things woke you, but not everything.

While riding to the museum, you notice Steven constantly doze off, barely managing to hold his coffee while he leans against the strangers standing closely around him. Every time they shake him off he perks up with a jolt, blinking his tired eyes for a moment before ultimately falling back into a light slumber, this time leaning too close to a woman who was scrolling on her phone.

Once she notices him, she turns and gives him a weird glare. You have to apologize to her while restraining a laugh and helping Steven stand upright so he wouldn't invade her personal space any longer.

You place a hand on Stevens's back and lightly shake him awake. "Hey, don't shut down on me now," you say with a sluggish smile of pity as he snaps back into reality.

You watch as he scans his surroundings, his tired eyes wide as if he had suddenly forgotten where he was.

His body is tense, and his breathing had accelerated, he appears lost until his eyes finally find yours, then he begins to settle, both mentally and physically as he releases a stiff sigh.

"God- sorry about that." He mutters as his grip around the support rail tightens.

You assure him that it's alright, and offer to hold his coffee as he attempts to wipe the sleep from his eyes, taking a sip of your own from the warm beverage to help yourself as you continue to rub repeated circles along Stevens's back with your hand.

He wasn't able to ask for his drink back before he started to nod off again, this time leaning against you.

"I'm.. just gonna stay like this for a few minutes." He clarifies, clinging onto both the pole and the light jacket you had thrown on this morning as he tucks his face into the crook of your neck.

"I hate to tell you this but, don't get too comfortable." You mumble, grinning as his dark curls stroke your cheek.

He nods in response as he releases a faint, nearly indistinct hum of "okay".

But he was going to get comfortable regardless.
