ch.1— "hello, traveler"

.

.

.

"What's this?"

A certain man picked up his whip and went to the side of the cliff to see something like a star falling down. His eyes narrowed at the light and jumped down from the tower, alerting the guards in surprise. "Oh! It's you...sir [m/n,]"

You smiled and licked your lower lip, "Hello," you greeted the guards and went past.

Exiting the gate of Mondstat, you hummed and walked your pace towards where the bright light might have landed. Although it was a rather risque move, you were taken over by your curiosity. It wasn't every day you get to see something god-like in front of your eyes.

With your whip hung by your belt, and your boots crunching on the leaves, it took you a while to get to the source when countless slimes and a camp of Hilichurls dared to face you head-on. Although a certain stoic redhead seems to hate your existence, it was without a doubt that he was right when you were a perfect training partner.

Showed by how much you had slaughtered in about 20 minutes, adventure guild members that would pass by when doing their commissions would at least see around 50 personally marked areas which indicated the camp was cleared.

So by the time you got to the area where the light was supposed to be...it was empty. Your eyes narrowed in concern at the fast pace of removing traces. Your first thought was that it was the work of those...mages, but as you walked further up, you found yourself eyeing a silhouette of a young person who was walking around aimlessly with what seemed to be a look of distraught.

The traveler noticed, their senses being heightened. And soon they fished out their dull sword and pointed it at the source of scurrying. "Who's there!" They shouted. "Come out now, or I'll be forced to make you come out,"

"Woah there buddy,"

Traveler gripped their sword tightly in suspense, hearing the voice of a playful man.  Their eyes wandered, waiting for the first strike. They didn't expect a snake-like jump in front of them.

While in shock, the sword was wrapped in a vine-like rope. Something was tugging at the end and the traveler yelped and tried to pull back.

"Hm?" the voice coed. "You're strong for someone with a thin body," the voice commented and successfully tugged the sword away from the traveler.

Traveler was about to attack again with their fists, but a shadow figure jumped in front of them, and it was only then did they get a clear picture of the one who had nearly assaulted them.

"Hey," you winked. Traveler's face irked, scrutinizing you. "Aw, don't be so irked out," you laughed and whipped back your weapon. You licked your lips and asked, "Did you see the falling star around here too?"

"Falling...star?" the traveler tilted their head. Right, the traveler remembered the previous incident right before he fell to this...place. The traveler looked at you, his eyes showed hesitance and you noticed.

"Well, it doesn't matter," you smiled and offered a hand upfront. "The name's [m/n], a lone adventurer. I came here to survey the area where a bright star-like light fell...but it seems there's none anymore," you said.

"..." The traveler said their name. You nodded and said "Do you have a way to get home? It's turning dark and slimes love to come out in the night," you warned.

"It's okay..." the traveler said. "I... don't have a home," they scratched their cheek in embarrassment.

"Oh? How can that be?" you put your hands on your hips. "That's strange...surely..." you looked at the traveler from head to toe, noticing distinct features from the way they dressed. You narrowed your eyes and hummed.

"No matter, if you really don't have a home, let's go to my camp!" You didn't give time for them to talk and quickly dragged them to a specific place where you often meet with a cute little wolf who loved to follow you around and play.

The traveler didn't seem to mind. They were more curious at the whip beside you which seemed to have resonated with their hearts. They could almost hear the strange whispers coming from it. Their brows furrowed, eyes intently on the whip hung on your hip.

"It's pretty, right?"

The traveler's gaze averted from the whip. 'He seemed to have caught up...' The traveler was amazed at how quick you were to notice their gaze. The traveler nodded slowly, "...That whip is also a weapon?"

"Yeah," you smiled. "This baby grew up with me ever since I was a kid. Not a year goes by that I let go of it, it's like a part of me now..."

"But, eh, enough of that..." you waved your hand with no worries. "We're here!"

"Oh! There's...nothing?" the traveler spoke in confusion.

You chuckled. "Wait just yet!" you opened up your bag and grabbed a teapot. The traveler was surprised, questioning how you could fit such a thing.

"That's a secret," you winked. "But here we are!" you put the teapot down.

"That's a...teapot,"

"Not just any teapot!"

Before the traveler could even continue, you opened up the lid and a flash blinded the traveler. They could feel their body being warped in and you laughed at their cute panicked-stricken face.

"Waaahh!"

"Hahahaha scream some more! Hahahaha!" You laughed loudly, watching the traveler scream with tears pouring from his stinging eyes. The air around you soon dissipates and a view of a mountain below came into view.

"Hold on!" You grabbed your whip and hooked the edge to a tree branch, going down faster from the pull and landing on your feet.

You looked up and saw the traveler still falling with no support. You hummed and opened your arms wide to your side and gently positioned your limbs with one turning up and the other down precisely 90 degrees.

Glowing ruined alphabets shined through your fingertips and in the center formed a bright shining net. You jabbed your fingers upwards and watched the net levitate up toward the traveler. The net safely caught him and gently lowered him down.

"Well, you certainly know how to give me such cute reactions, hm," you licked your lower lip and patted the traveler's puffed-up hair.

"Well then, traveler, should you need anything, you're welcome to roam around!"

"Where...even is this place?" The traveler groaned and got off the odd magic net. They weren't that surprised, after all, they were also powerful like that before.

"My personal home," you winked. "It's like...a personal dimension itself," "Surely marvelous, yes?"

"Yeah...so big too," The traveler marveled and took a few laps around. You watched in amusement.

It's been a while since you've encountered something worth your entertainment. 'This traveler...' you could feel something was off with them. You pursed your lips and watched them touch the grass.

"Well, traveler," you called their attention. "I don't know how and why you're here in Mondstat...but since you're basically alone and wandering..."

You looked at their striking eyes. "Some things are telling me...you are a natural star born under the Gods' blessing..."

The traveler shuffled their body away from your gaze, a bit uncomfortable with how your gaze penetrated their soul. You didn't mind and asked, "Can I join you on your journey?"

"Huh?" the traveler blinked. "Me? You...join me?"

"Why not?" You shrugged and ruffled their head.

"I would be glad to become your partner, surely."
