Toni POV
Being friends with the same group of friends since elementary school isn't always the easiest thing in the world, especially when one of them is a bible loving, Jesus freak. Although i think it might be the real problem because anytime an argument is started it was usually made by me. It takes a lot of my self control to not torture Shelby everyday that we spend together. This being said although i bully her a lot i still love her as a friend sometimes she is just too much.
"Toni wake up, stop being lazy" Martha came into my room slamming the door open knocking me out of my thought
"Can you not see i am clearly awake" i replied.
"Well breakfast has been waiting for you for about an hour and a half now and you haven't shown up to come and eat"
"Sorry Marty" i said hoping out my bed to get dressed for school, it's finally Friday which means its game day and one day closer to being able to party this weekend
"Just get ready and eat before we are late"she said leaving my room and closing the door aggressively.
I quickly through on on basketball jersey and some black joggers, grabbed my bag and ran out of my room. when i got to the kitchen i grabbed an apple and waited for martha to come back
"Marty could you hurry i've been ready for years now" i said sarcastically
"Hold on Toni, im on the phone with Shelby" i heard her yell from her room
Once Martha got off the phone we finally left for school, Going to school is probaly one of my least favorite things but i have to do it in order to play basketball, if it was up to me i would just skip everyday.When we pulled up me and Martha meant our friends where we do every morning, right outside of the school building. me and Marty ended up being the first people to arrive besides Fatin and Shelby. Fatin was already in order signiture meeting spot while shelby was leaning against her boyfriends car while he hovers over her. I rolled my eyes to the site of that which earned me a slap on the shoulder from martha
"hey what was that for" i said
"Leave her alone she really likes him" she said, i looked back over and saw him give her a kiss before she starts skipping over to us
"whats up bitches" i heard Fatin yell " are you guys prepared for the epic party this weekend after Toni here wins this school the biggest game of the year today"
" hey im gonna try but don't get your hope up"
"Shalifoe what are you talking about, you are the best basketball player our school has ever seen. You literally took our team to states last year"
before i could reply to Fatin, Shelby finally made her way over to us, grabbing on to Martha's neck and giving her a hug.
"hey beautiful people" she said
"wow you have some serious positive energy this morning, did you and your boyfriend just have good car sex or something" fatin said which in turn lead me to start laughing
"like Shelby would ever do that" I said knowing it was going to wrowl Shelby up, but in turn i earned another smack this time in the back of the head from martha again.
"why don't think i will Toni" she said sounding a little sad
" I think its time for us to leave maybe lets give them a little privacy Martha and we can go find dot" Fatin said dragging Martha inside leaving me and Shelby outside alone
"toni , i will have you know me and andrew are actually planning to have sex this weekend after the party" shelby said almost in a bragging way
"uhmm i will be here waiting untill this actually happens" i said getting ready to walk into the school building "by the way you look hot today" i added on before making my way in and leaving Shelby behind
This was me and Shelby's typical thing, we get into small arguments, we flirt, and on rare occasions we are just okay with one another. Shelby doesn't typically participate in the flirting unless she is drunk or we are alone and she doesn't relize what she is doing. She is a very touchy person and i hate being touched so it's weird that we can occasionally get along. Fatin calls us love birds she thinks we are secretly in love but im not sure how that could be possible considering we don't even like eachother that much.
Before i knew it the day flew by and it was time for game time. Fatin was not exaggerating earlier this is actually the biggest game of our season and this only makes me a little more nervous than I usually am. During warm up's the stands start to get packed, all my friends were front row ready to cheer me on including Shelby.The game start off pretty good, we kept our ground and by half time we were up by 6 points.Going into the 3rd we started to lose a little bit of ground going under the other team by 4. Before the fourth started we had a little team meeting
"listen guys we have held up this long, this is our game to win. we are going to win this for one another" i yelled
"bees on three, one, two, three, bees" we all yelled as we took our positions on the court
Going into the fourth the game was back and fourth, leaving the crowd yelling in awe by the time their was a minute left we had the ball and the score was tied. I knew it was time to make a move. I passed the ball in to Rachael and she dribbled it down the court. she passed on the ball back to me and i looked for cuts in the middle of the court. I looked at the clocked and we only had seconds left. I backed up off of my defender and pushed the ball up into the air releasing it from my hand and the buzzer rang. The ball went in, and my whole team tackled me to the ground. The crowd went wild and i knew that our team is now getting sent into the playoffs. when i finally got out of the dog pile, my friends all engulf me in a group hug, Shelby being the first one to hug me. As much as i hate to admit it being in her arms felt amazing but the hug didn't last last too long.
"Toni i told you, you were gonna pull it off we need to celebrate tonight. Party at my house" Fatin said "I'll spread the news, Martha, Shelby, dot you all better be their" she said hurriedly walking away.
"you did so incredible, nice job out their Toni. see you tonight i need to find Andrew" she said walking away
"Nice job Toni" Martha said "lets go and get food to celebrate" she continued dragging me out of the gym.
