The pitter-patters of your nervous pacing scratched at your brain. You circled the circumference of your tiny tent, considering whether or not you should see the Commander in his own tent. What if it was a repeat of last night? Maybe you were nervous because you were afraid of actually wanting that. You sucked in a deep breath, swallowing your pride and storming straight out into the darkness outside of your tent.
You took two steps before you collided with a black nothingness. Your heart pounded furiously as your eyes travelled upwards, trying to make sense of what you were looking at. When you realised, your pounding heart paused to stand still. A Knight of Ren.
"Sorry..." you breathed, your lungs feeling robbed of any oxygen it previously had.
The Knight grunted once, the atoms around you two still in anticipation. It was then that you noticed you were surrounded by all six Knights of Ren. You held your breath the whole escorted walk to Ren's tent, afraid any wrong breath would lead to your demise. You paused in front of the opening, unsure if you should enter or not. One of the Knights behind you nudged you forwards, his touch searing like fire.
You emerged through the flaps of the tent, your eyes falling upon Ren who stood facing the corner. He wasn't wearing his mask. Your heart skipped a few beats; you'd never seen his face before. There he was, more vulnerable than he ever had been, yet way more terrifying. You felt it wasn't within your right to see his face, but you wanted to so badly. His hair was a wavy texture, thick and jet black. Probably soft to touch. You took a step forward, gently placing your step. You wanted to creep up on him, sneak a peek at his face.
"It's nice to see you've finally joined me," he spoke, his unmodified voice producing tingles in your body.
He sounded like warm honey without his mask, like a deep, comforting warmth that caressed your mind. The deep, robotic crackle that constantly shrouded his voice wasn't there anymore. His voice was as raw and pure as it could ever be. You didn't know what to say. You were too struck by him. A gloved hand wrapped over the crown of his mask before it lifted to cover his head and obliterating any chance you had of seeing his face.
You took this time as Ren turned around to observe his tent. It didn't look anything like his quarters. It was like a trooper's, but only bigger. Even yours looked better. You wondered if that was a decision of his own, or one forced upon him.
"I don't like a fuss to be made over me," Ren responded with his once again modified voice, reiterating the fact that he definitely could hear everything you were thinking.
"Your quarters in the Command ship would suggest something different," you teased, the words seemingly tumbling out of your mouth.
You could feel Ren buzzing as he moved closer. You couldn't tell if he wasn't blocking you out anymore or if he was picking and choosing what you would feel. He strode towards you, a black mass almost floating through the tent. He stopped inches in front of you, his fingers drawing circles on your arm.
"We should get to training, Commander," you mumbled, looking down as you blushed against his touch.
Ren let his fingers glide up your arm before it landed on your chin, tilting it up so he could observe you. It was like he was analysing you, as if he needed to know what every emotion looked like on your beautiful face. You beamed up at him with glistening eyes, filled with hope and passion. His unmoving heart swelled for a moment, before swiftly freezing over again.
The lake beside your haphazard training area was glistening under the bright, waxing moon. The serenity was perfect for the occasion, bringing you two to a neutral and peaceful state. The stones beneath your boots shifted as you faced Ren. You wanted to pull off his mask and do this the right way; but the moon glistened off of his mask so mysteriously and ominously. Ren took in a deep breath before lifting his head up to the sky.
