THIRD PERSON

••••••••

It was around 4pm in central park, new york. You were supposed to be hanging out with your friends for the day, but they said they were going to meet you at 2:15. Already having called your friends numerous times, you had no response and no idea where they were. Sitting alone on a bench, you began to feel embarrassed and foolish. You had been stood up. How could anyone feel so alone in such a busy place?
Bored out of your mind, you decided to call Chris. You knew he was in the city for the day with his brothers because they had invited you to hang out with them. However, when they asked, you thought you had plans with your friends, who had now stood you up, so you said no.
It didn't take long for Chris to answer the call.
'Holaaaaa' Chris blurted out from across the phone. You rolled your eyes.
'Hey.. are you still around?' You asked, hoping for a yes.
'No, we went home' Chris sarcastically replied. 'Of course I am, you goof. What's up? Thought you were too busy to hang out today.'
You could basically hear his smirk from the other side of the phone and it irritated you. 'Yeah, well... plans got cancelled.'
'You serious? Alright, well, where you at?' Chris said, already more than happy to meet up. This made you smile.

CHRIS' POV

I was more than happy to go and see her. Our hotel was only a few blocks away from central park, so I grabbed a cap and made my way down.
I spotted her as soon as I arrived. 'Heeeeyyy!' I shouted, already regretting the volume in my voice. I forgot I was in public.
Y/N saw me and smiled. 'Chris!' She yelled back with the same energy.
I don't think I'd ever seen her so happy to see me; it was surprising.
She gave me a hug and we walked through the park, chatting away.

When we got to the other end of the park, the conversation came to a close.
'Wait, so, why'd you call again?' I asked in a confused manor as I hadn't really been given an explanation over the phone.
'I lied. My plans didn't get cancelled' Y/N said, her voice cracking as she spoke. 'I got stood up.'
Her eyes began to water. There was a moment of silence. She began to sniffle and brush the tip of her nose with the sleeve of her sweater as she looked at the floor. I wasn't sure what to say - I had never seen her this way.
'Hey, it's ok! Don't worry' I stammered, still surprised by Y/N's condition. 'don't cry, it's alright. Come on, let's get something to eat.'
She smiled. I vigorously rubbed the palm of my right hand on the top of her head and wrapped my left around her shoulder. As we walked, she took my cap and put it on her. 'Do I look good?' Y/N said, looking up at me with my cap on.
'Always' I replied, resting my head on her's as we walked out into the street.
