Rosie paced around her house, bored out of her mind. She had done everything she wanted to do that day. Or so she thought. "What am I gonna do?!" She groaned. "I'm so bored!" She announced to no one in particular. In a flash, Rosie was rummaging through the assortment of things piled up on her DIY table. "Maybe I'll find a fidget toy or something..." She murmured. Instead, she found a chocolate chip cookie. "Weird." She thought. "What's this doing here?" She wondered. Next to the cookie was Lolly's photo. Rosie frowned. She felt guilty that she stowed away her best friend's photo instead of displaying it like she promised. She grabbed the photo and placed it on her vanity. "There!" She said, feeling a little proud of herself. Rosie took a bite out of the cookie in triumph, then she made a face after realizing it was stale. She glanced at the cookie, then at Lolly's photo. Wait! Rosie had a great idea. She ran out of her house and ran towards Lolly's.

As expected, Rosie invited herself inside Lolly's house. She didn't even bother to knock! Lolly was reading a book, as per usual. The sound of the door opening and Rosie's footsteps startled her. "Gah!" She yelped. "Oh, it's you, Rosie." She said, exhaling from the shock. "So... What's up, Blueberry?" She asked casually while smiling sweetly. Rosie smiled back. She loved it when Lolly called her that. "Well, I came here because I wanted to do something with you, but I already forgot what it was. But I am feeling pretty hungry right now..." She explained. "So you wanna bake something." Lolly said. Rosie grinned. "Ooh, yeah! That's it!" She cried. "But now I forgot what I wanted to..." She trailed off when she noticed something pink zipping by the window. The only pink villager on the island was Cookie, and she knew that. "Oh, I remember now!" She announced. "I wanna bake cookies!" She declared. Lolly smiled. "Yes, I'd love that, Rosie." She said.

[Time-skip to them getting the cookies ready to bake.]

"Can I lick the batter?" Rosie asked excitedly. Lolly frowned. "I don't know..." She replied, feeling uncertain whether she should say yes or no. After a bit of thought, she shook her head. "The batter has raw eggs and flour. You'll get sick from it." She reasoned. Rosie frowned and made puppy-dog eyes, which is weird considering that she's a cat. "Pretty please? With tuna fish on top?" She begged. Lolly sighed. She hated seeing Rosie upset like this, even if it was over something like cookie dough. "Alright fine." She said. "But if you get salmonella or something, a bit of medicine from Nook's Cranny won't cure it." She mentioned warningly, smiling. Rosie grinned. She was so happy she could eat the batter; she didn't even ask what salmonella was!

Rosie grabbed the bowl and did not hesitate to stick her head in it and lick the remaining batter off. Lolly sat on the counter and waited patiently. She would occasionally sneak a lick from a spoon. When Rosie was done, she had batter all over her face and a big grin. Lolly laughed. "You're full of cookie batter!" She exclaimed, jumping off the counter to grab a washcloth. Rosie giggled. "Here." Lolly said as she was washing the cookie batter off of Rosie's face. The blue feline huffed. "I can do it myself!" She said, sticking her paw out for the washcloth. Lolly chuckled and handed her the washcloth. The tabby smiled slyly. "You missed a spot." She said. Rosie gasped. "Where?" She asked. "Right here." Lolly replied as she leaned in and gave Rosie a kiss. The two cats blushed.

After Lolly put the cookies in the oven (because Rosie practically burnt herself when she attempted to do it), she joined Rosie on the couch. The blue feline sighed from exhaustion. "How the heck do you do this without stopping?" She asked. "Wait, how many cakes and cookies and cupcakes did you have to bake to not get tired?!" She exclaimed. Lolly laughed. "I just do a lot of baking, usually when I'm bored." She replied. Rosie chuckled. "Ooh, okay, that explains it."

A small ding! from the oven startled both of them. "The cookies are ready!" Rosie exclaimed. Lolly stood up to grab the oven mitts. Then, she carefully took the tray and placed it onto the counter. Rosie peered over her shoulder the whole time. "Ooh, they look so good!" She commented. She reached over the cookies to grab one. "Rosie, wait!" Lolly cried, but it was too late. "YOW!!!" Rosie exclaimed, quickly reeling her paw back. The blue feline had burnt herself.

The tabby grabbed the other feline's paw and examined it. "Well, it doesn't look too bad. Does it hurt?" She asked. Rosie nodded a little. Lolly ran to her freezer and took out a Ziploc bag with ice cubes in it, then she handed it to Rosie. "Be careful, sweetie. The cookies just came out of a 400° oven, you know." She warned. Rosie giggled. "Okay, I'll be careful."

They had to wait for the cookies to cool, and in the meantime the tabby fussed over Rosie's burn. "Are you sure you're okay?" Lolly questioned. The blue feline crossed her arms and huffed. "Yes, yes, I'm fine!" She insisted. Lolly just smiled at her. If Rosie was being honest, she liked the fact that her best friend was making sure that she was okay. She felt like she mattered, you know?

A small chime indicated that the 15-minute timer was up, meaning that the cookies were cool. Rosie immediately jumped off the couch and speed-walked towards the cookies, but hesitated to touch them. Lolly laughed. "Don't worry. They're not scorching hot now." She said as she pulled out a metal spatula and scooped up a cookie with it. She handed the cookie to her best friend. Rosie took a monstrous bite and chewed for a bit, then her eyes went wide and sparkled as she grinned. "It's soooo good!!!" She squealed. Lolly took a cookie of her own and took a miniature bite. She smiled. "Yes, it's very good, indeed." She added.

Rosie ended up having the majority of the cookies because she loved them so much. Lolly took a Ziploc bag and put a couple cookies in it, then she took some Seran Wrap and put it over the plate of cookies. Rosie gratefully took the plate. "Thank you so much for baking with me!" She said, hugging the plate. The tabby smiled sweetly at her. "Anytime, Blueberry." She replied. They said their goodbyes and Rosie left. It was getting pretty late, so she decided to go straight to her house and sleep. After placing the plate of cookies on her vanity, she flopped onto her bed and sighed happily. What fun it was that day! The last things Rosie thought about before drifting off to sleep were cookies and her best friend, Lolly.
