"This isn't how this investigation was supposed to go", I said.
"It's a haunted prison. How did you expect it to go?", he asked, turning to look at me.
"I'm not sure. But it definitely wasn't like this"

We were in Canada. Sam and brought Kat with us and we met up with Celina a couple hours ago. We had dinner, then went to the fortress.
Once we had finished the investigation, Kat, the boys and I went back to the hotel. I was sharing a room with Colby. Sam and Kat were in a room across the hall. I took a shower then got dressed for bed. As Colby went to shower I pulled out my phone and decided to text Nate. We had been friends for as long as he'd been friends with Colby. I was as good a friend with Nate as I was with any of my own friends. Out of all of the friends Colby and I shared, Nate and I were the closest.

Colby came out of the bathroom as I smiled at Nate's response.
"What are you doing? Who are you talking to?", he asked, coming to look at my phone screen.
"No one. It's just Nate", I replied, locking my phone and Colby walked over to his own bed.
"Nate isn't no one, and you know it", Colby said, raising his eyebrows at me.
"Good night Colby", I said, turning the light off.
"Good night Evie"
When I woke up the next morning, Colby was still sleeping, even though someone was knocking on the door. I opened it to see Kat standing there.
"Kat, what's going on?", I asked
"I need to talk to you", she said.
"Okay, um...let me get dressed and we can go down to the lobby", I said. Kat nodded and I went to get dressed. About 10 minutes later, Kat and I were down in the lobby. "So, what's going on?"
"Yesterday, as we were getting ready to go to bed, Colby texted Sam. He said you were texting Nate", she told me.
"Yeah. Nate's my friend"
"You do know that I know you like Nate, right?"
"I don't like Nate"
Kat didn't say anything, just raised an eyebrow in suspicion. I sighed in defeat and nodded.
"Fine. I do like Nate, but don't tell Colby. I hate when Colby knows he's right"
"Don't worry, I won't tell anyone. Everyone already knows anyway"
"Kat!"
"It's true and you know it!"
I smiled at her as both the boys came down.
"Hey, Celina just texted to see if we wanted to meet up for breakfast? Y'all wanna go?", Colby asked.
"Yeah, let's go", I said. Kat agreed and we made our way to the car to meet up with Celina and Joel for breakfast. Kat looked over at me, question in her eyes. I nodded knowing what she wa asking. I was thinking about Nate, and she knew it.
