About the character and first encounter with Pennywise:

Anna Corbin was a French decendant girl who was classmate of Beverly Marsh and Ben Hamson. She has been mute since the car accident which her parents unfortunately couldn't survive and she was the only survivor. She used sign language or a notebook to communicate with people. She was very close to Ben and was one who knew about his feelings for her other friend Beverly.

Anna was an orphan living with her aunt and her family. She was treated a bit coldly but she got used to it. She had to run errands for her aunt and do family chores which her cousins were supposed to do. Anna was bullied by few of her classmates who would make fun of her asian appearance and even call her 'Cinderella' as an insult for how she is treated by her adoptive family and mocked her for being mute.. Later Anna was convinced by Ben and Ricchie that her adoptive family was exploiting since all this while she just thought it was her duty to do all the work she was made to do.

Anna was very reserved and introverted and preferred being in her comfort zone. She didn't like being touched without consent and demanded her personal space to be respected. She was one to initiate intimate affection towards someone with Head pats, giving them a sign that she is comfortable around them.

Anna joined the Losers' club after confiding in Eddie Kaspbrak, another member of the said club, who was her neighbour after she had her first encounter of the IT.
