I folded my arms.

What's his problem? I guess it's because he shot that kid. Still though, don't get mad at me.

"Nothing. Whatever, just do what you want."

"Why are you out here? School is on lockdown", he said as he tap his finger on his cigarette, letting some of the ash fall.

"Not anymore, they are letting us go home now. You are in my spot, this is where I come if I want to just chill."

He leaned back against the tree to continue smoking. I rolled my eyes. I swear some cops let what they do go to their heads.

"Hey Sarina!"

I turned around to see Javi coming over.

"Hey, what's going on? Are you okay?"

He looked at the officer and then me.

"Yeah I'm okay."

The officer gave Javi a look and then went back to smoking.

"Let's go, they want everyone gone", Javi said.

He took my hand to lead me away. I looked back to see the officer looking at me. He doesn't seem to be okay but it's not my problem. He obviously doesn't want to be bothered.

Later on we met up at Javi's house. His parents were still out of town.

"I can't believe that happened", Grace said as she flopped on the couch in disbelief.

"It wasn't that big of a deal", Javi said.

"It could have been."

I went to the fridge to get a bottle of water.

"Did he go to our school", Javi asked.

I went back over to the living room and sat next to Javi.

"Not sure. They'll show his face on the news soon."

"You were talking to that cop. What did he say", he asked.

"Was he hot", Grace asked.

I gave her a look.

"I don't know Grace, he was just being a jerk."

"He did shoot someone. Maybe he was in a bad mood", Javi said.

"Yeah, I guess", I said.

Grace's phone went off.

"Ugh! My mom is all freaking out. She wants me home now. She needs to chill."

"She is just worried, you can't blame her."

"Yeah, yeah. I'll see you guys tomorrow I guess."

I opened my arms for a hug from her. Javi the same and then she left.
