"Hey Vi? Wake up you're safe here", I heard the voice say from the darkness. It was a woman's voice. It was soft and sweet, but had a tinge of some sort of accent I couldn't pinpoint. I began to open my eyes. When I opened them, I saw a quaint cottage bedroom. There were two windows; both were wide open bringing in a warm breeze. I tried to speak but my throat was to dry, so i coughed and tried again.
"Where am I and who the hell are you?", I said to the woman in front of me. She looked about 23 maybe, maybe even younger. She looked at me as if I had insulted her.
"He really did a number on you, huh?", she said with sadness in her eyes.
"Who?"
"Dad, he hurt you like he did me and mom, right?"
"Dad? What do you mean by dad? I don't even know you."
"You don't remember me at all?"
"Should I?"
She was standing in the doorway and was about to walk out when she turned around and said
"I hate him as much as you and now I will never forgive him for what he did to mom"
She walked out. I looked around to see what I could find to wear and saw the suitcase my mom gave me. Then I remembered.
*flashback of the day before of her mother dying to the knife her father held. The guards dragging me away.*
I dragged myself out of bed and got into my suitcase and discovered my mother's bag behind it. I grabbed a set of clean clothes and decided I'd ask the woman where the showers were. As I walked out the door there were two doors on each side of the hallway. I figured I could be intrusive later. Once I got out of the hallway I found the kitchen. I peeked inside and the woman and a man were there. He was standing very close to her and holding onto her waist.
"Finally decided to get up? I can hear your footsteps despite them being quiet."she said to me from inside the kitchen.
"Oh"
There was a brief pause.
"How do you know me and my name and about my father? And you never told me your name.", I said to her as my voice began to rise and tears began to fall.
"Dex meet us at the cafe in an hour or so please."
He quickly left after swiftly kissing her cheek. She walked over to me and took me into her arms and stroked my hair. She felt so familiar yet I didn't know why. I didn't try to fight her.
"Who are you?"I asked so quietly I didn't know if she even heard.
"I'm Camilla or Cam. I'm your older sister."
I was so surprised yet so relieved. I lost my mom and my father was dead to me. I didn't understand how but I was grateful.
"Wait", I said out loud to her and pulled away,"Your Cam?"
"Yes?"
I ran back to the room and got into my mothers bag and grabbed the set of knives. When I ran back out she looked a little scared. I handed her the knives and she covered her mouth in awe. She giggled quietly as a tear ran down her cheek.
"Mom knew I loved daggers", she whispered.
"She got me a set like it, but mine are blue."
We stood in silence for a couple minutes until I finally asked,
"Do you have a shower?"
She laughed a quick laugh and started walking down the hall. She opened the second door on the right.
"Once you're done cleaning up, I'll take you to the cafe and tell you everything."
