Everyone other than Pandavas had assembled in the court room . Dhritharastra and Ghandhari sat on their throne at the centre , behind them Sanjaya was standing . Sanjaya was trusted advisor of dhritharastra , he would narrate to them about whatever was happening around them as they both could not see . Drona , vidura and bhishma sat near them on their throne . On their left hand side and right hand side column of seats were arranged .
On one of the side Duryodhana sat on front next to him sat bhanumati . Next to bhanumati sat subhadra followed by karna, aswathama and other Kauravas . Dhritharastra had invited drona and aswathama as they were also part of hastinapur court . On the other side 5 seats on the front where empty where usually Pandavas would sit followed by remaining Kauravas .

Everyone where waiting for pandavas to arrive . Some male servants came with pandavas helping them by giving support to walk .pandavas looked pathetic after the thrashing they had recieved from kauravas . Servants left after helping pandavas sit down . Seeing pandavas bheeshma felt sad while kauravas were trying hard not to laugh .
Draupadi and kunti were not present as yudhishthira never allowed women to enter into indraprastha court as it was adharma according to him for women to participate . Even when women were victim a male related to them , their husband , brother ,father or some relative would attend the court on their behalf .
Bhisma came to know about everything pandavas had done , one side of his mind said they did wrong while the other side was constantly reminding him that they were devaputras and they could never be wrong . Finally he decided to support them . He was worried about them as he knew that if the news reaches dwarka then krishna and balarama will surely kill them . He was sure that servants and guards won't say anything as he had already threatened them . He was afraid that if subhadra informs dwaraka family then it will become a problem . He decided to spread fake story making Pandavas seem as good ones with the help of spies such that even if subhadra tells her brother about what had happened they would think she is lying because she is now married to karna and trying to support him in his evil deeds . He had told Pandavas about this and they were happy that he was still supporting them . Yudhisthira was also afraid and scolded arjuna for attempting to kill subhadra . Arjuna decided to tell krishna their fake story by himself as they were very close friends and everyone agreed with him . Yudhisthira was against telling lies , but he said he will support them . He explained to his brothers that anything done to establish dharma naturally becomes dharma even if it seems like adharma .
Even drona was on Pandavas side as they were the ones who defeated drupada and they always listened to him unlike kauravas , even during their education drona was partial towards Kauravas , he didn't teach them everything like he taught pandavas . Duryodhana had ordered his brothers not to participate in panchal war as he knew that their guru was only taking advantage of the sacred practice of guru dakshina . Already he took thumb of ekalavya as Guru dakshina now in order to satisfy his ego he was asking for war which would only take lives of innocent people. Aswathama was on kauravas side , his father had forced him to become king of northern panchal after Pandavas defeated drupada. Drona gave southern part back to drupada but decided to make aswathama king of northern part , though aswathama declined at first , Duryodhana had advised him that it would be better if he rules otherwise drona might give it to pandavas so he agreed reluctantly .
