Your Perspective
Hiding behind a pillar, I steadied myself before walking. As I drew closer, I heard the quiet sobs of Ei. Finally, being right behind her, I saw Yae there, already aiding in trying to ease her woes. Seeing me, she nodded motioning me over.
"Hey . . . Ei-san."
"~sniffle~ Oh, greetings (Y/N). I apologize that you and Yae must see me like this." She says, barely holding it together. I felt my heart break at this, getting onto the ground next to her. Glancing back at Yae she nodded at me, with me nodding back signifying I'd take it from here, mouthing a thank you to her. Taking her leave, I turned to Ei.
"I'm so very sorry for your loss, Ei. I apologize for this tragedy, and for not doing as much as I could to aid in the events." I quietly told her, rubbing her on the back. Ei turned to me before bursting into tears and falling into my arms.
"If I had been stronger, I could have- If I were faster I-I- It should've been me. . . She shouldn't have perished because of me." Ei tells me between sobs. I held her tighter to me, afraid of letting her go. Ei buried her head into my chest as we sat there.
"Makoto must have had a reason. Makoto would have wanted you to live Ei. Either way, this tragedy is not one you will go through alone. You have my support, as well as many other people." I said, squeezing her tighter.
" . . . I made a promise to her too. A promise that if something were to happen to her, that I would be there to take care of you. To help you. To love you, Ei." I said, tilting her head up to face me.
"It's going to be alright. I will be here in any way you see fit, so if you ever need anything of me, hesitate not to ask." I added placing a soft kiss on her head. She took a few deep breaths, calming down a little before she looked into my eyes.
" Can you . . . Can you stay with me please? So, I feel less alone." Ei asked me quietly.
"Of course. I will not leave you, especially in a difficult period such as this." I said, taking her hand and lacing my fingers with hers. She gently kisses me on the cheek, thanking me. We sat there as she calmed down a little more. We stayed silent just taking in each other's presence with her resting her head against mine.
"I love you, (Y/N)."
"I love you too, Ei."
