It was almost nightfall, when Wren finally found his way out of the forest. He had wandered around on high alert for awhile, finally drifting back into the normal section of the woods that he was used to, before eventually stumbling across a tree he recognized, from a past gathering expedition. From there, he had been able to find his way out of the trees and onto the path leading back towards town.
He was making someone come with him, next time.

Jaber was waiting for him when he got back.
"Wren! Where have you been?! You've been gone all day!"
And then, upon looking at him, and seeing his torn up clothes and the scratches all over his body, he asked; "What happened?"
"Got lost. Giant freaky bear thing. Found you plants." Wren tiredly responded, pulling his bag off and setting it on the table. He took out all the contents and examined them, tiredly. A lot of the jars had broken, but all the ingredients were O.K.
So of course he was surprised, when Jaber suddenly yelled excitedly.
"I knew it was real!"
Wren just looked at him, dumbfounded. What? Jaber was already taking the strange plant samples Wren had found over to his table to begin studying them. All the while, he continued to ramble.
"Ha! Take that, Donovan, I was right all along! Oh, I wish I could see the look on your face when you get my letter..!"
He was probably going to want Wren's story later, but for now it seemed to have slipped his mind. Which, in Wren's opinion, was fine by him. Wren couldn't handle the constant ups and downs this day was bringing anymore.
He fainted.
