Sasha had slipped away from Levi's grasp still holding one of the photos. She pushed it inside her coat pocket and then ran to catch up to the Jean and Connie. After purposefully bumped into the bald man she asked with a devious grin, "Ya smell that?" Whatever the it was, it smelled meaty. She strayed to wherever her nose lead and Connie followed close behind. She wes nearly upon it when she felt a sturdy hand grab her arm. Sasha  looked back. Jean was giving her a scornful look, "No." he said sternly. "You're no fun," she wined, snatching her arm away and veered back straight. It was becoming increasingly hard for her to avoid bumping shoulders with the people walking around them. "Jeez! there's so many people." she flustered. "Hey! " Sasha heard Captain Levi's harsh tone ring from behind her. She whipped around to find him holding up the arm of a small copper skinned boy. "That ain't your purse," Levi said. Sasha looked in the raised hand of the boy, at what appeared to be a pink coin bag. She paused and her eyes slowly grew larger in size, she realized that she too had a pink coin bag. Frantically she began patting down her coat pockets; they were empty. Levi tossed her the coin bag as he shouts began bouncing throughout the crowed. "THIEF!" a yell came from somewhere, followed by "IT'S ANOTHER ENEMY MIGRANT!" and countless other attacks targeted towards the small boy. Sasha felt the shift, the thickening of venom that filled the air, the hoard of people shoving their way past her  and Capitan Levi. Anxious chores being plucked inside her chest as the crowd began to coil around the little boy. An older man wearing a brown ivy cap pushed his way forward to question him. "How'd you get here?" he shouted at the young boy. "Snuck aboard a ship, I bet" another man answered on his behalf. "He can't even understand us." another man chuckled, "Nah, let's smash his hand so he can't pickpocket anymore!" someone suggested. "Tie him up where everyone can see, that'll cut down on crime." Beneath the weight of scornful words, Sasha could see the young boy trembling, his feet fixed to the cobblestone, his face suspended in terror. Her thoughts raced though her head, her chest, her knuckles knotted into a fist; the men who surrounded the small boy towering over him like Titans. "That's taking it too far!" her thoughts spilled, "I already got my purse back!" she said holding her small coin bag towards the the crowd. "This isn't about you!" One of the man surrounding the boy interjected, "We've gotta punish him to set an example!" And then another spoke, "We're trying to make a living here!" "Besides, he could be a subject of Ymir!" the old man in the ivy cap finished. ("He could be a subject of Ymir.") the words scattered in Sasha's mind as the gravity of who they were, where they were, spread through ever her being. She could no longer hear the men's screams, she could only see the expressions of her comrades, and knew they were enduring the same fate. Her eyes shot over to Captain Levi, they only shared glances for a moment before he scooped the copper skinned boy into one arm. "HEY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!" a man called after him. Levi, continued looking forward, "Who said he's a thief?" he noted, "All I said was,"that ain't your purse,"" he glanced over at her, "It belongs to his big sister here." Sasha stood stunned, her brain trying to put together the pieces, the situation, the anger, the fear, the boy, his words. "Why now?" "Why now is my mind stuck?" "Why won't my mouth make words?" "Why won't my body move?" the woman thought to herself. Hange positioned themself in front of her, loudly stumbling some words, "My...Talk about a nutty family! Right, big sis?" she emphasized her final words by looking toward her with a nervous grin. It clicked, she wasn't safe, her friends weren't safe, the food she enjoyed, not her's to eat, the photo's she'd taken, not her's to own. "Ah! Sorry about my little brother!" she stammered as she bowed incessantly towards the crowd. "I Smell bullshit!" a man snarled and his words dangled in the air as the moment grew more unstable. "LETS GO! Levi shouted as he darted away from the mass of people with the boy still tucked under his arm. Sasha ran after him, and the rest of the unit scurried close behind, they sprinted through city isles, some of the men following behind them. They cut around corners, over a walls, before losing the majority of the mob, and the remaining giving up out of sheer exhaustion. Even with the surroundings clear, Onyankonpon motioned for them to keep running. They didn't stop until they had reached where the edge of the city met the green pastures. Where the buildings and homes had been turned into ruin from years of war passed.
