Solo Mission

Peso POV

"Whoop" "Whoop" "Whoop"

The Octo-alert was going off which meant that something was wrong or someone's in trouble. I raced through the hallways to the HQ where the rest of the team were.

"What happened Captain!?" I asked as I caught my breath. The Captain turns to me and the rest of the crew and told us that there was an island near where we were currently setting.

"We got a call of distress from the island which means that an animal is injured and I wanna know if you Peso, wants to go alone or if you want someone else to go with you? Cause judging by those rocks, I highly doubt that It'd be safe going alone." Captain Barnacles said while looking between me and Kwazii. I turned to look at Kwazii as well.

I've always admired Kwazii and I think it has developed into something more but I don't want to dive to deep into my feelings just in case their only one-sided.

Cause knowing Kwazii, he'd either go for someone who is brave and adventurous or someone who doesn't take things to seriously, the exact opposite of me.

But I have bigger problems to deal with. I turned towards the Captain and nodded my head. "I'd like to go alone please Captain. I need to try to be more independent and handle things on my own."

Barnacles looked at me like a parent looking at his child. He smiled gently and put a hand on my shoulder. "Peso, you don't need to prove that you can be independent, we all know you're. Don't forget you're in charge when I'm not here, which proves that you're independent and that I can trust that the Octopod is in good hands while I'm not here. And you can handle things on your own. Look at all the creatures you've helped, and you never hesitate to help a creature that is hurt or sick no matter how scary they look."

I thought about what the Captain said and what he said did make sense and judging from the photos Dashi pulled up on the island it would be safer to go with someone.

"Thank you Captain but I would like to go alone please. And I could always radio for help if I need it."

The Captain hesitated then nodded reluctantly. "Alright Peso if that's what you want then sure. But don't hesitate to contact us if anything happens ok? We care about you Peso and we don't want you getting hurt."

I grinned and gave Captain Barnacles a hug before hurrying to the Sick Bay (Medbay) and restocking my medical bag.

When I get down to the Launch-bay, I see the Gup-E all ready for me to start my first Solo Mission.

"Alrighty Peso, that should be everything." Tweak said giving the Gup a pat and biting her carrot. "The Vegimals have pack a few kelp cakes, fish biscuits and other snacks to keep you going for the day."

I smiled as nerves start to settle in. I'm already starting to rethink my decision and tell the Captain and Kwazii that I don't want to do this alone anymore.

As I was deep in thought, I didn't notice the patter of footsteps and someone sneaking up on me until it was to late.

"Yow Matey! I'm gonna miss you today when you go, maybe I should come with you to keep you company ay?" I jumped at the sound of Kwazii's voice, spun around and slapped him in the chest. He pouted at me and rubbed his chest. "Ow matey that actually hurt. You have a lot of built up strength there." He chuckled.

I could feel my face heat up and averted my eyes. "Sorry Kwazii, but you scared me. And thank you for worrying about me but I'll be fine."
