Okay so I did some research and I found out that bits actually hurt the horse depending on which kind. When a horse has foam coming out of their mouth or they fidget with the bit, it meana that they are in pain, also another sign is when they lower or raise their head. When turning the reins or stopping the horse, see how you're horse reacts. A good way to do that is to have someone els ride them and take notice. Just make sure not to pull too much on the reins, usually just use you're seat and heals to guide the horse.
