When Harry first arrived at Grimmauld Place he had gone through several different rooms to pass by time. He noticed that though Sirius was uncomfortable in most of the rooms, there was one in particular that he never spoke about. One night Harry had gone into the room that he was so curious about. He couldn't tell much from the interior other than that the previous occupant was a Slytherin based on the green coloring. What sparked his interest however was the desk and what was lying on it. And so when Harry had given Sirius a letter that was addressed to him, saying that he had found it in the room, Sirius had asked to be left alone. The letter read,
"I'm not sure that this will ever reach you. If it does, then I want you to know that I have found a way to defeat the Dark Lord. He has created horcruxes. I believe there to be several of them but I have aquired the location of one so far. Im not sure that I will make it back safely but it's a risk I'm willing to take. I'm sorry for everything. I'm going to make you proud. I'm going to try to be like you, the brother that I had always aspired to be. I want you to know that I died to do something good. To make a difference.

When Harry spotted Sirius later on, he couldn't help but notice his puffy eyes and sad, yet proud smile.
