"Wha- why? Why are- why is Shane here... boat.. why are we on a boat?" Rollan stammered "this is all a dream. Pinch me." But Abeke just rolled her eyes. Rollan could taste the salt coming up from the sea.
"We're here" Shane said. The sea around them had turned black and Rollan could smell smoke. He guided them to the exit of the ship. Shane smiled up at Abeke, taking her hand and helping her get off. Abeke blushed.
"Thanks" Abeke said, looking up into Shane's eyes. Rollan felt his face go red with anger. How could she trust Shane like that!? After her used her and mistreated her? After he tricked and abused her? It's because she loves him... isn't it? Thoughts of Meilin surged through his head and he started to worry about her and Conner. All of this made him forget that Essix was gone and that they were supposed to be moving.
"Rollan! Come on!" Abeke laughed, her hand clutched Shane's.
"Yup, just waiting for Essix" then he felt a sharp pain in his chest. It wasn't like he was hurt- well he was hurt inside, realizing Essix was gone. Tears welled in his eyes. "Ya, coming" he sighed, following them closer to the volcano.
