"Marry me."
He freezes at my words. "W-what?"
Wow. Did I just make Jeon Jungkook stutter?
"Marry me." I repeat.
"I-I—."
"It's sudden I realise that, and not exactly the most romantic way to ask you but—."
"I can't." He cuts me off, now adjusting me back onto my feet. I stand there dumbfounded.
"Look Kooks I know we still have your trial at court to focus on, but when that's all over—."
"You shouldn't have asked me such a thing Y/n." He starts to pick his clothes up from the floor, and I'm confused by his irritated tone of voice.
1 hour later
We enter back into the house. The walk back from our school was much quieter than the walk there. Maybe I was wrong to think so near into the future. Maybe we aren't there yet for such discussions, or perhaps marriage is too normal for a couple like Jungkook and I.
But I want it, so badly. I want that life with him and I was so sure he wanted the same.
"I think I'm gonna go take a shower."
"Y/n—."
"Will you check if my work uniform is dry?" I begin to walk up the stairs.
"Y/n wait."
I stop.
"Now will you please turn around and look at me."
I do as he says and when I do I feel my heart skip a beat, the sight of Jungkook kneeling down on one knee making my eyes well with tears. "B-but I thought you—."
"I just wanted to be the one to ask the question. But you had to beat me to it didn't you." He sighs before reaching into his pocket, pulling out the small silver ring. "I have to warn you, there's no diamond but I used my portrait money to—."
"Jungkook you could give me a Harribo ring and I'd still wear it." I leap down from the steps, myself giddily stomping as I wait for him to ask the question.
"You good?" He questions and I nod so fast he's unable to hold back a smile. Who knows how those woman stand still in shock when a proposal is made; I can't seem to keep still!
"Y/n L/n. I have a lot of obstacles ahead of me and I don't wanna face any of them without you by my side. As my best friend, as my soulmate, and as my wife. Now I have a slight guess to what you're gonna say thanks to this morning, but, will you please do me the honour of marrying me?"
"Yes." I nod and watch him slide the ring onto my finger. Rather than waiting for him to get up i kneel down before him. "You don't realise how happy you've made me." I smile before wrapping my arms around his neck to bring him close. He responds by tucking a strand of hair behind my ears, a smile to match mine spreading across his lips.
"Would it be bad if I asked you to pinch me." I say sniffling.
"Why?"
"Because this feels too good to be real and I don't wanna wake up to find out I dreamt the whole thing."
"You think you're dreaming? I've finally got the girl I've been chasing my entire life. You were almost lost forever—."
"But then I found you." I cut him off. At first he smiles, but I can see there's something else on his mind. I look at him questionably.
Sighing he takes hold of my hand, gently fiddling with the ring now on my finger. "I really hope we'll win the case Noona. I can't imagine having to go back—."
"You won't have to go back to that place; ever. So please don't let the thought scare you."
"It's not that I'm afraid of that. I'm afraid of having to leave you."
Tutting my lips I begin to adjust his bangs for no necessary reason other then the fact I just want to. "Jeon Jungkook you're putting a downer on our engagement. I order you to stop worrying and take a shower."
"I thought you were having one?" He asks confused, but soon catches on when seeing the smirk spreading across my lips.
Jungkooks right. There are still many challenges ahead of us. But we're together now and stronger than ever.
There are issues that still weigh on my mind of course. Ones that I've chosen to keep to myself.
Jungkooks father is still on the run and we now have two court cases to worry about. One being whether Jungkook is free, and another being whether his mother gets the sentence she deserves.
We are still in danger of a lot of things. Recently I've been receiving letters specifically addressed to me. I'm unsure as to who's sending them but the threats don't leave me questioning anything. Someone wants me to be afraid for what's to come.
What they don't realise, is that the girl they've addressed those letters to no longer exists.
They should be the one who's afraid as they have yet to meet her :)
Their threats fail their purpose unless it puts my family at risk.
But they should know I'll do anything to protect them all.
No matter what the cost.
