Excerpt: About a murderer who comes up with a foolproof plan to escape from jail.
A pretty man named Jungkook was serving a life sentence in prison for murder. Angry and resentful about his situation, he decided that he couldn’t spend his life in prison. He began plotting ways to escape from the jail.
He became good friends with one of the prison caretakers, Jin. Jin's job was to bury any prisoners who died, in a graveyard just outside the prison walls. Whenever a prisoner died, Jin rang a bell, which was heard by all of the prison inmates. Then he got the body and put it in a casket. Next, Jin entered his office to fill out the death certificate before returning to the casket to nail the lid shut. Finally, he put the casket on a wagon to take it to the graveyard and bury it.
Knowing this routine, Jungkook devised an escape plan and shared it with Jin. The next time the bell rang, Jungkook would leave his cell and sneak into the dark room where the coffins were kept.
He would slip into the coffin with the dead body while Jin was filling out the death certificate. When Jin returned, he would nail the lid shut and take the coffin outside the prison with Jungkook in the coffin along with the dead body. He would then bury the coffin.
Jungkook knew there would be enough air for him to breathe until later in the evening when Jin would return to the graveyard under cover of darkness, dig up the coffin, and set him free.
Jin was reluctant to go along with this plan, but since he and Jungkook had become good friends over the years, he agreed to do it. Jungkook waited several weeks for one of the other prison inmates to die.
One night, he was asleep in his cell when he heard the death bell ringing. He got up, picked the lock of his cell, and slowly walked down the hallway. He was nearly caught a couple of times. His heart was beating fast.
Jungkook opened the door to the darkened room where the coffins were kept. Quietly in the dark, he found the coffin that contained the dead body, carefully climbed into it and pulled the lid shut to wait for Jin to come and nail the lid down.
Soon he heard footsteps and the pounding of the hammer and nails. Even though he was very uncomfortable in the coffin with the dead body beneath him, he knew that with each nail he was one step closer to freedom.
The coffin was lifted onto the wagon and taken outside to the graveyard. Jungkook could feel the coffin being lowered into the ground. He didn’t make a sound as the coffin hit the bottom of the grave with a thud.
Finally Jungkook heard the dirt dropping onto the top of the wooden coffin, and he knew that it was only a matter of time until he would be free at last. After several minutes of absolute silence, he began to chuckle quietly to himself.
Feeling curious, he decided to light a match to find out the identity of the dead prisoner beside him. To his horror, he discovered that he was lying on top of Jin.
