Chapter 8: The Break up

Cassie POV

After the fight, I was prepared to go home until I was stopped by Isaac.

"Ok, out with it. Why have you been avoiding me?" He asked.

"I can't tell you. Not right now." I said, tugging my arm away from him and used my whip to reached to the roof tops to get some air, only for Crimson to catch up with me.

Silence filled the air. Our eyes met.

"Cas. What are you not telling me?" He asked.

I thought about what Persephone said and sighed. 

"Isaac. I can't date you anymore." I said.

"What? Why?" He asked.

I didn't answer. Isaac clutched my arm.

"Cassie? Why? I know we had our differences in the past and we may have butted heads a lot. But, I really do love you. More than my ex." He said.

I bit my lip and looked away.

"Cas. What did I do to hurt you?" He asked.

I tugged up his mask and kissed him on the lips, wrapping my arms around his neck. I felt his arms around my waist, not wanting me to let go. 

Makes two of us.

I pulled away from him and whispered in his ear.

"I don't want to do this. But I have to." 

After that, I lashed out my whip and swung from rooftop to rooftop, ignoring the tears in my eyes.

Isaac POV

I watched as Cassie left, leaving me heartbroken, confused and betrayed. I didn't notice that my miraculous died and I changed to my civilian form. I sat down on the roof, shocked by what happened.

"Boss?" Arachne asked.

"Not now, Arachne. Just eat up and let's head home." I said as I gave her a chocolate bar. The red spider kwami nodded and ate the chocolate bar. 

"Hey, Mr Train-Stopper! What's up!?" Malik called.

I didn't reply and pinched the pendent around my neck.

"Isaac? What's wrong?" Zoe asked.

"Boss, I'm fully charged." Arachne said.

I sighed and got up.

"Arachne, webs out." I said and transformed into Crimson Web.

"Hey, man. What's wrong?" Nino asked.

"Nothing. I'll see you guys at school." I replied glumly and fired a web at a nearby building and swung off the roof, making my way home.
