It all started when my best friend dumped me. You know, when I started feeling invisible? Technically Michaela's to blame. It's a cliche, I know, and would make a great movie if the producers tweaked a bit of stuff to make it more like a movie than a real-life story. But my best friend from since we were three up until Year 7 (that's a decade, by the way - a decade of being soul sisters) made it into the popular group practically as soon as we made it into high school. Both of us were ecstatic when our parents decided to put us into the same high school down the road, Blakely High School. But on the very first day, I could sense something wrong. I'd hardly seen her all holidays, for a start, and now La (as I called her) went straight up to the group of popular girls at our primary school as soon as we got to Blakely's gates that morning, and chatted away as if they'd all been best friends forever. The next time I even got the chance to talk to her was lunch.

From then on, Michaela was ALWAYS with those sixteen other popular girls (I saw them so much, my brain but have unconciously counted all of them). It didn't help that we were in hardly any classes together. Before all this, La and I were 3/4-popular - not the most popular, but we were friends with most people and most liked us too. I guess over the summer holidays La hung out with the popular kids and that's I why I was alone, and lonely, most of the break - and she didn't tell me.
