Life Goes On (Book 2 of Shunned) complete

Chapter 5 (revised 07/09/2023)

When we got back, the first thing Bruno did was sit down with us. We looked at the list. Bruno had decided to bring all the Warrior back. When looking at the list, we discussed our trainer one

I looked at the list and asked, "Why is Omar and Tierra on here? They were two of the fourteen that walked out that day?"

Bruno replied, "They decided they don't want to retire in two or three years. They said it would be closer to five years and requested to be withdrawn from the elders' list. They are store owners. One has an older daughter who wants to take over, and the other youngest daughter has a mate who is moving back to our pack. I contacted the oldest daughter, who was at college. She confirmed she is majoring in business and has two more years until graduation. Their dad will help with the transition for a few years before retiring. She recently met her mate, and he is willing to relocate here. He is majoring in horticulture.

I talked to our gardener. He will speak with her mate when they make the permanent move, which will help since our current gardener mentioned wanting to retire. He is willing to let her mate help him.

He smiled at that, "Now we have four trainers. The Lycan picked two of them to be promoted to Enforcer. Do we want enforcers in our pack or let them be assigned to the supernatural board? They would be under the supernatural reserve list, and us. They would take over the enforcement of laws and punishment. They would have to report to me for endorsing the punishment. This would help clear us from being called to every mischief maker. We must decide if they stay here or go to the council. But I won't decide until they complete training and get their input."

I reply, "I do think they both would be great enforcers. We promote trainer two to trainer one spot and trainer four to trainer two spots. Then place the two that Lycan suggests being announced as trainers-to-be trainers. That would put  Neal and Joey then as lead trainers.

Bruno said, "Sam's younger twin brothers, Tim and Jim, grew up with their dad and older brother being trainers. They could step up as immediate trainers to replace the two going to enforcement training."

Mitchell replies, "They would make good trainers. Their brother Sam has made sure of that.

There is a con to having enforcers would be when they graduate from enforcers school; they could be equal in our power Bruno. They are trained to take down even rouge alphas after what happened with the Crimson Packs and werewolf council."

Bruno replied, "I never doubted their loyalty, even when questioning us. They were not really after our jobs. They just were brought up counseling is for wimps. The last couple of weeks at leadership school changed their mind. When Sam defends Charlie, that shows he has excellent enforcers in school. The main reason I brought him back was to calm down. He needed a break from those Lycan even if he stated he was ok." Just then, there was a knock on the door.  "Enter."

In walked Quincy and Sam. "You requested our presents, Beta!"

Bruno looked over at me. I smirked and replied, "I just saved you time." He looked over at the two men. "Have a seat." They went and sat down. "Three weeks ago, I contemplated leaving the pack, and then we went to training. I feel we both learned a lot. I know you were not acting with malice when you questioned me. You were trying to look out for the pack."

Sam said, "I know I caused disharmony in the pack, and I meant what I said when I publicly apologized to you. I am ready to take whatever punishment you want to deal with me. I ask you not to punish Quincy here. He has a family with pups due soon. I will take his punishment too."

Bruno said, "You were not called here to be punished, but if you ever question me again as an alpha, you will be punished.  Now what you were called in here for was the test results." He held up a folder he must have slipped into that wilder when they walked in. "Based on this report, you two are not trainers.." He looked over at Sam. "This report suggested we place  Timothy and James as trainers.

Sam's eyes darkened, "as in my brothers, Tim and Jim?"

Bruno grinned, "If your eyes hadn't darkened, I would not have realized how upset you are. Before I called in those two, I wanted to offer you a new position. It is one we have never had in my grandfather,  father, and my lifetime.  If you decline, you will stay trainers."  He paused, and the two men looked on. Neither questioned, but both looked questioning at him.  "At the Lycan camp, they mentioned an eight-week Enforcers class for you two. It sounded like you will accept.  Our pack would purchase everything you would need.  They do have a furnished 4 bedroom house our pack would rent for Quincy and his mate to stay at. Fairy Charlene is right now staying at that pack since Alpha Easton's mate is due soon. Plus the soon to be grandparents could have their own room when they want to see their grand pup. This property also comes with a two bedroom apartment that is built over the garage for Sam to stay at.  It would be up to you to decide"

Sam spoke up, "you won't regret choosing me for this position. I will make the pack proud."

Quincy replied, "let me talk to my mate she seemed unsure of me going. She does feel it would be good to get away from my parents. As we discussed they don't see me doing anything right. My instinct now is saying it is not a good time. My mate is due when I would be at training. I was going to request a leave of absence while I help her. Which my parents scoff at. My mate would travel with me to other packs. I don't know if she would want to do that with new pups. I was just so honored and excited when offered I said yes without talking to her."

Bruno replied, "I grant you your leave of absence and I will find out when their next enforcer class is. Maybe best to wait until after the pups come. When Sam gets back he can work on training you as a deputy of his. 

I think I will talk with Jocelyn about sending counselors here to do family counseling and place your ur family in it. What they are doing isn't healthy for you. Honestly don't want you to pass that behavior onto your pups.

Now let me call the other trainers. They are going to be promoted up to spot one and two. We will then call Tim and Jim in also. Those two will duel it out for trainer slot 3 and 4. "

Sam grinned, "get the popcorn ready. Start it early in the morning. Last time they fought it went 7 hours and ended in a drawl if you remember."

Bruno laughed, "I remembered that which is why I was thinking a different type of duel.  We have a carnival coming up. They go to each carnival game. They play three round of each game. It is one point per round. In the event of a tie what ever the last game was they play a fourth round. Winner gets third spot."

(That is how Jim ended up third spot and Tim was in fourth spot. Sam left for enforcer camp the next day. Quincy went 6 months later. Then spent the next year going to various packs to gain experience.)
