Life Goes On (Book 2 of Shunned) complete

Chapter 9 (revised July 11, 2023)

Her birthday finally arrived. Even though kept busy with council stuff this seemed the slowest two weeks ever.  Today, her family kept her busy in the preparation room. They were giving her a spa treatment. The fairies moved our house over. Many people packed up her personal belongings and moved them into her part of the closet. Plus, had several new outfits her mom had bought.

Bruno walked into my house and said, "remember you ever hurt my girl I will end your life as you know it. She may be your mate, but she still my little girl."

"I have waited 22 years to get the promised new mate. I will never do anything to hurt her. I have learned from my mistake with Jocelyn, but what if she rejects me because I am so much older than her?"

Bruno hands me a suit bag he has in his hands, "she has been planning her mating ceremony for years. I can tell you that you are one of the three wolves she had it narrowed down too."

"I got competition. Who are they?"

Bruno starts laughing, "Go put on the outfit my mate chose for you. She thought she was going to surprise me with the coming of age party becoming a mating party. I think everyone knows.  She is a very smart girl. It was about 6 months ago she asked if you, Gavin or Myran was her mate?"

"Who are Gavin and Myran?"

"You remember Warrior Cyrus and his mate, Cheryl?"

"Cheryl was a rogue who joined Juniper Pack and Warrior Cyrus transferred there."

"Cheryl had a son from her first mate. His name was Gavin. He is now in his 20s and hasn't found a mate yet.  He  comes here during the summer months and some holidays to visit his step fathers grandparents."

"Then who is Myran?"

"Myran was part of our pack when we were pups.  When Myran was 3 they moved back to his mother's pack. His grandparents died in an accident and his mom was the oldest sibling. She went back to help raise her siblings. They felt it would be easier not to uproot them to a new pack. She at the time only had one pup. He still is unmated," he said.

I replied, "is she hoping it is one of them?"

I know she hoping it isn't Gavin. She said he use to bully smaller people. I remember she busted his nose right after he got his wolf. She caught him bullying smaller pack members. I saw what was going on and was very proud of her.  He started to backhand her but a few others protected her and told him she was an alpha daughter. She pushed her way to the front and said, "I am an alpha daughter but I can still kick your ass even if I don't have a wolf. I challenge you human to human." I sent the Delta over and he took them to the training arena. After that those two never spoke again. I heard she kicked his ass."

I laughed when Bruno shared the story. I then took the outfit to my room. I took a shower and got dressed in the white, silver and blue Royal tuxedo. Plus white shoes.  I walked out.  Bruno and I walked over to the pack stage close to sunset.

As we stood on the stage we looked out proudly over the  clearing. We see finishing touches be applied and our guest start to arrive.  I walked off the stage and started greeting pack members I hadn't seen in a while. Bruno then spoke from the stage, "welcome to my youngest daughter, Kathleen's coming of age party.  Tonight the MC for the event is Delta Mitchell."  Mitchell took the microphone and Bruno walked off the stage. I watched him walk up the stairs to the balcony. The two guards let him in. I grinned so her sister wasn't announcing her. Wonder if that while letter was part of the prank."

Mitchell requested, "everyone please stand and face the balcony." The pack and guest stood and turned toward the balcony. "I am proud to announce Alpha Kristine Brubaker from Cayenne Mountain Pack." The door opened and saw Kristine walking down in a flowing sweetheart long royal blue chiffon with silver beaded sequins on the chest area with a high slit.  She wore silver  heals. We all watched her walk down the steps, down the aisle to the stage. She stood by Mitchell.  He stepped aside, "you may do the honors alpha. After all she is your sister."

Kristen walked up to the microphone. "Thank you, Delta Mitchell. I am very proud to announce my baby sister, Miss Kathleen who is being escorted by our parents, Elder Alpha Bruno and Elder Luna Wanda. The two guards at the door on the balcony each grabbed a handle  and opened the French doors.  There stood Kathleen between her parents. She was wearing a knee length white dress. It was heart shape top with tulle on the off shoulders. I noticed a blue and silver crystal belt. The blue matched the royal accents on my tux. The silver matched my bow tie.  Then the dress billowed out like a Princess dress to just below her knees. She wore a lovely crystal and silver tiara, teardrop earrings and necklace. I looked at them closely and realized they were my mothers. I wondered how she ended up with them. Since my parents died many years ago during one of the rouge attacks. Her shoes around her beautiful ankles were silver and crystal too.  I then swept my eyes back up to her face.

Her parents had started walking her down the steps. I saw her sniffing the air. I knew she caught my scent. She was trying to figure out where it was coming from.  They made it down the steps and was walking down the aisle toward the stage.   I stepped out in the aisle by the stage. She made eye contact with me. Her face lit up and I saw her mouth, "mate." She let go of her parents arms and ran to me. She jumped into my arms and kissed me. She leaned her head back and looked back into my eyes, "I was hoping it was you Frank. I love you."

The pack and our friends started howling in celebration. I heard Jocelyn call out, "congratulations my friend. I am happy you finally got your second chance mate."
