The wind passed through my coat as I made my way to my apartment. In late november New York was freezing. I could feel the cold all the way into my bones. Sighing I walked, it was nights like these where I had to hate the fact that I had no car. Walking down the dark streets of New York at this time of the year leaves a person with more time to think then most would like. But in my mind why waste the money on typically overpriced tabs when you can take a stroll through the city. It wasn't like it wasn't a gorgeous city and maybe it smiled and had a decent amount of crime it was still nice. It was probably my favourite part about living here. When it wasn't freezing that is.

Finally, catching sight of my apartment building I quickened my pace as I pulled my coat tighter around my body, trying to keep as much body heat as I could. The clothes that I wore for work may have looked nice but they were everything but warm. Wearing a dress thats skirt flew with the wind and high heels made me miss my pre work clothes of sweatpants and sneakers it made me want to scream in frustration. If only sweatpants were considered classy and professional.

Finally making it to my building I smiled at the doorman and greeted him before walking inside. Making my way towards the elevators I noticed the door closing slowly. I knew that this building had over 50 floors and had no idea how long that would take. There was also the fact that I'd probably fall asleep waiting if not. "Hey hold the doors!" I shouted running as quickly as I could in my heels.

The doors stopped closing and started to open once again. I practically jumped in almost hitting the only guy in the elevator. I leaned over putting my hands on my knees, chest heaving as I tried to catch my breath. "Thanks" I said after a minute as I finally caught my breath and looked up. Once again my breath caught in my throat as I looked at the man in front of me. I couldn't help but stop as my eyes met his. It was those same crystal grey eyes I had felt an urge to look at the whole show and that seemed to keep me in a heated stare every time they met with my own. The panic of seeing him in the frozen messy state I was in know was embarrassing.

"Mr. King" I said nodding as I tried to straighten myself out, my hands sliding over my clothes as I tried to fix my outfit as quickly as I could. "I've already told you Ms. Day call me Desmond. Mr. King is my father. Makes me sound old you know? I'm only twenty one and it makes me feel like i'm sixty." He said chuckling at me. "And if I was to remember correctly you never told me your first name."

"Dee. Or Dani but my friends tend to call me Dee. But you can call me Dee too that's fine. Sorry... It's very nice to actually meet you Mr. Kin- I mean Desmond." I said putting my hand out for him to shake. He grinned and took my hand in his and brought it up to his lips, placing an ever so light kiss upon it. "It's my pleasure." As soon as his hand touched mine I felt a shiver run through my body. I swear i thought i saw his grin widen as I did and for a moment I forgot where I was and who I was with. The fact that I had just met this guy meant nothing to me. Neither did the fact that I was happily taken at the moment. Then I remembered that this man was probably someone way up and would throw me away like a dirty rag if it came to it. There was also the little thought of my partner who was sitting upstairs waiting for me to get back to our apartment.

As I let go a groan came from the elevator and than a shake that sent me knocking into Desmond. "I am so sorry." I mumbled a burning sensation meeting my cheeks as he kept me upright. He opened his mouth to say something before the elevator shook again. With a slight drop and a another groan the lights began to flicker before fully surrounding us in darkness.
