3- Music and Drama and, OH MY!

It turns out Niall put my name down for the Music and Drama society because he panicked and didn't want to go alone. I definitely didn't want to be part of this stupid society, especially considering I hadn't even sung properly since my old band, White Eskimo, disbanded as soon as we left school. I'm out of practice and quite frankly, have given up on any kind of singing career. As for the drama side, there is no way I'll be getting involved in that. I'd enjoyed acting as a kid, but lost interest as I grew older, and now it is the last thing I'd ever do. I highly doubt that a university society of all things would bring that passion back.

Not to mention, I already have a pile of coursework to get through and having to go to this society meet and introduction at the end of a long week is not helping with the stress of it all. Still Niall seems optimistic and I don't want to ruin the fun or let him down, so I'm trying desperately to hide the negativity.

'Lighten up, it'll be a laugh,' Niall says as we make our way there, clearly seeing right through my pretend good mood.

'Sure, I guess,' I respond with a slight shrug. 'I just don't know how I can be involved with this society alongside all the other stuff I have to do. Like where will I find the time?'

'It shouldn't be too demanding,' Niall tells me, trying to be reassuring. 'Besides, you don't have to go to every meeting, you know?'

'I suppose so.'

Niall then gives me a strange smile before looking away again, smirking.

'What?' I ask, curiously. 'What's so funny?'

He turns back to face me, a wide grin on his face.

'I think you'll really like the society president, we met when I signed us up,' Niall says, and I'm almost too busy rolling my eyes at the fact they're called 'society presidents' to notice that he then winks at me. I catch it at the last second.

'Did you just wink at me?' I ask, raising my eyebrows at him.

'Nope, dunno what you're talking about mate,' Niall replies, struggling to keep a straight face.

I had no idea what he could mean by that. Surely the president would be some kind of pompous asshole that I resented, I didn't know why Niall thought I'd like someone like that.

The meeting tonight is being held in one of the many small halls on campus and as we get nearer, I'm struck with the horrific feeling that we are very late.

'Uh, Niall, what time did you say it starts again?' I ask, as music starts blaring from the hall we probably should have been in a while ago.

'I swear it starts at half seven,' Niall said, while fumbling in his jacket pockets for something. He pulls out a folded piece of paper and unfolds it, before swearing. 'Shit, it started at quarter past.'

I pinch the bridge of my nose, feeling even more stressed. It's currently 7:35.

'Fucks sake, Niall,' I sigh as we approach the doors to the hall. 'We are SO late.'

'Well at least we'll be making an entrance, hey?' Niall jokes as he pushes open the doors.

To my horror, they open with an extremely loud crash just as the music stops. Everyone turns around the look at us, and out of the corner of my eyes, I see a figure on stage also turn around to face us. Probably the so called president.

I look over properly and almost do a double take, my heart pounding. The guy on stage is undeniably attractive, wearing a dark beanie and a black tank top, which reveals black tattoos inked on his arm and one poking out on his chest, and had the tiniest amount of facial hair - the good kind. Holy shit.

He looks like a rockstar and I can't help but wonder how someone like that is even at a place like this and is real. He's my exact type, no doubt about that. And now he's looking at me. Direct eye contact. My legs feel like they're turning to jelly and I pray that I don't do something stupid like trip on thin air (it's happened before).

'Of course, there's always som'one who turns up fooking late,' he jokes, in a strong Yorkshire accent. I didn't expect that voice to come out of him, but I immediately feel more nervous, my heart pounding. It somehow makes him more...attractive. ' 'ave a seat lads, you haven't missed much.'

I tear my eyes away to look at Niall who gestures to the two empty seats to our left. We hurriedly sit down and I am relieved that I manage to do so smoothly. Niall is smirking again and I nudge him, mouthing at him to stop. I understand the comment and the wink now. He knew me too well, including the types of people I felt attracted too. I hope he doesn't embarrass me about it.

'Alright, alright, let's get started then,' says the attractive president. 'As some of you may already know, I'm Louis Tomlinson, president of the society.'

Louis Tomlinson. I can't help but contain my smile and try to cover it by resting my chin in my hands. Everyone then breaks out in applause and Louis laughs, gesturing with his hands for them to stop.

'It's good to see so many of yous here, old or new,' he says and I swear at the moment he looks at me with a smile. How am I going to survive this?  'What we're all about is, having fun, having a laugh with some music, some acting...'

Louis makes a little dance move while he says music and acting, which gets a laugh out of everyone. Me? I'm so hopelessly falling more and more head over heels by the second.

'But this year, we are also going to be teaming up with the musical theatre society and will be putting on a musical at the end of term!' Louis continues. He raises his hands in the air, and mouths 'come on', gesturing for everyone to clap again. This man.

'Now, now don't get too excited, you all have to audition first,' he tells us.

'Audition?' I question out loud, without thinking. Now he really is looking right at me. I didn't think my heart could beat any faster.

'Yeah well, we can't exactly let yous in if you're shit now, can we?' Louis answers, an amused expression on his face. He then turns back to address everyone again. 'Now you can either sing, act or play an instrument for your audition, or a combination, don't really matter. But enough of that for now, it's time for you all to meet the rest of the crew.'

He gestures towards a row of other people sitting next to the stage, who I didn't notice until now. I assume they're the rest of the people who run the society, but all I can think about is Louis, so I've lost interest.

As Louis takes a small bow and heads off stage, I tear my eyes away from him and turn to Niall who's already watching me, very amused.

'Told ya you'd enjoy it,' he teases. My cheeks turn hot.

'Shut up, Niall,' I say under my breath, before turning back to face the front.
