Peter didn't know how to feel as he stood at the open door of the refrigerator. All he could do was go through the motions of what happened in the last 12 hours.
Peter walks into the Avengers Humble Abode as he digs through his backpack. He made a new fidget toy for you that he hopes you like as well as some books he thinks you might enjoy. As he enters the main common room he hears arguing. "You have done nothing but treat her like shit!" He could hear Sargent Barnes shouting. Peter is confused but decides to enter quietly and just listen. "What it might be a good thing that she is gone anyway..." Mr. Stark says which makes Peter raise an eyebrow. "She nearly burned down the entire place!" Tony exclaims. "You have done nothing but mistreat her! She has a right to express her feelings and you shut her down. Every. Single. Time." Loki says as he walks in with a wet deformed clump in his hand. "She burned all her journals?" Bucky asks his voice wavering slightly. "She-" "Where is (Y/N)?" Peter asks finally speaking up. The group looks toward him. "Look... Kid... She left..." Tony says stepping forward. "Like a mission? Why did she burn her Journals?" He asks as panic rises in his voice. "You tell him right now or your suit of armor won't be enough to save you." Loki growls. Tony only rolls his eyes before turning back toward Peter. "She left Pete..." "Why would she leave? Sargent Barnes said she burned her Journals..."
Tony tries to speak but Peter cuts him off. "She wouldn't leave because she has no place to go... Mr. Barnes is right! You do treat her like shit!." Peter exclaims. "Hey Language." Steve says sternly. "I am sorry to offend you Captain Rodgers but screw you!" Everyone looks shocked by what Peter said. "All she has ever been was kind and considerate! She has even taken the blame for your mistakes!" He says as he begins to pace through the room. "Kid calm dow-" "No! I won't calm down Mr. Stark! You treat her so bad and now she is gone! She needs those Journals to remember us and she burned them!" Peters eyes begin to glisten with tears. "Friday!" He shouts and the A.I responds with a "Yes Underoos?" "Send me the footage and audio from today that involves (Y/N) (Y/L/N)." Friday does just that before Tony could protest. Peter paces away from the group and begins to watch the video. He hears all the things they are saying and a few tears slip past his eyes and down his cheek. When the video finally stops he turns to them with a new fire in his eyes. "How could you?" He says softly at first. "Mr. Fury obviously saw potential in her and all of you discriminated, degraded, and bullied her all because she was new and has Autism!" He says his voice rising with each word.
"Come on Peter we weren't doing that..." Natasha says when Loki jumps in. "That was exactly what you were doing! And all of you are disgusting for it!" He shouts as Peter messages the video to Fury. "Kid what are you doing?!" Tony exclaims. "Screw you Mr. Stark! Screw the Avengers! Screw the Stark Internship!" He shouts as more tears flow down his cheeks. "She is probably so scared right now all because you didn't want to learn to understand her!" He says as he tightens his grip on the strap on his backpack. "I don't want to be apart of something so hateful..." He says sniffling. "I am going to find her with or without your help!" He says and turns on his heels and begins to leave. "We wish to help Spiderling..." Loki says but Peter shakes his head. "No It's fine... Thank you for defending her..." He says walking away. He then spent the rest of his time searching. He looked in every alley, every shop he thinks you would go to. When it began to rain all he could think of was how distressed you must be as he swung. He tries his best to figure out where you could possibly be. He searched all throughout the night into the early morning when he received the phone call from his Aunt May. He nearly fell mid-swing that was how much relief he was feeling. He quickly made his way back to his apartment.
Peter is brought out of his thought by the voice of his Aunt May. "Keeping the door open won't help you find food faster." Peter looks over at her and shuts the door. "Sorry..." May pauses and sighs. "Come talk to me Peter... What's going on?" She asks walking up to him placing her hands on his shoulders. "She... She forgot me... She chose to forget. If I try and make her remember it gives her a head ache..." He says sadly. "They treated her so badly that she chose to forget the past year of her life. She remembers being found and that's it!" He says as he begins to tear up. "Why would they treat her like this? W-Why would they hurt her!" He cries out but quickly quiets himself as to not wake you. "I'm sur-" "There is no reason to treat someone so poorly... And... And I quit" May's eyes widen. "What do you mean you quit? Quit what?" Peter pulls away from her and leans against the fridge. "That easily could have been me in her place. I didn't want to be apart of it if they could treat someone like that." May frowns. "I understand Peter... And that is okay to feel this way. I just wish I could help make it better. Is there anyway I can make it better?" Peter sits for a moment before saying. "Could you get some (Y/F/F) from that restaurant she likes? I'll pay! It's just maybe that will make her feel better?" May smiles and pats his arm. "You don't need to pay. (Y/N) is a sweet girl. It's the least I could do." She says before grabbing her purse. "I'll be back okay? No funny business." She says with a wink and Peter shakes his head and waves as she shuts the door.
When you wake up it is well into the evening. You could tell based off of the sun setting through the window. You decide to lay in the warmth for a little longer. You can tell that Peter normally sleeps on the bottom bunk. It smells like clean sheets with a hint of honey and peppermint which is are weird scents to combine but looking at Peter it seemed to fit. You look up when you hear the sound of the door knob turning. You feel your heart pick up in pace only to relax when you see Peter. He is carrying in a plate of (Y/F/F). "Hey (Y/N)... How'd you sleep?" He asks and you nod. "Pretty good..." You slowly sit up as Peter set the food on his desk chair and rolls it over to you. "Would you like to eat by yourself?" He asks keeping his distance. "Could you stay?" You ask and Peter smiles. "Of course let me grab some food and I will be right back." He says as he walks out. A few minutes later he comes back in with his own helping. He stands near his desk as he begins to eat. You scoot over slightly and pat a spot next to you. "You can sit next to me if you'd like..." He raises his brows in surprise. "Are you sure?" He asks and you nod. "I have to trust my past self and it seemed that they trusted you. All I have to do is hope you don't hurt me." He frowns when he hears this. "I would never hurt you (Y/N). I wish I could have protected you better. I wish I was a better friend to you." You shift as he sits next to you. "Could you read me some of your journals." You say trying to change the subject. He nods and smiles. "Where would you like to start?" He asks and you shrug. "Where ever seems good." You say as you begin to eat. "How did you know I'd like this?" You say as you try to scarf it down because of how good it is. "You told me a while back so I remembered." Peter chuckles as he picks up one of the numerous journals. "I think right here would be fun!" He says as he begins to flip through.
Laughter could be heard from Peters room as you read over the multitude of stories. "Wait, wait, wait, so we use to prank each other and I put wasabi in the middle of your Oreos?" Peter nods with a laugh. "Yeah and that was the last time I ever had Oreos around you." You chuckle and look down at the books around you. You look through all the pictures when you spy one. It was what you assumed a selfie being taken by you. Peter had an arm around the front of your shoulders and the other wrapped around your waist with him looking at you blissfully unaware of you taking a picture. "What were we doing in this one?" You say pointing to it. His smile seems to grow even more then you thought possible. "Look at the caption sweet heart." You blush when he says this and he seems to get flustered as well. "S-sorry..." You look at the caption and it says. 'Me and (Y/N) at a picnic in Central Park!' You look down some more to see a foot note saying. '(Y/F/F) is her favorite flower.' "So you write every detail down?" You ask and he nods. You look up to see that he is already staring at you. "Peter? Were we ev-" You are cut off by a knock at the door. Aunt may opens it while saying. "Hey it's almost lights out." She says with a knowing smile. "But Mayyyy It's a Friday!" He says with a whine and you giggle. May laughs as well. "I know but I am sure (Y/N) is still tired and with what happened I think it's best you pick up your stuff from you-know-where." Peter sighs and nod. May picks up the empty plates of food and chuckles. "You get out of dish duty just this once." She says with fake scolding and Peter nods. "Okay. I love you May." "Love you too Pete." She says and shuts the door.
You look back over at Peter and smile. "Well lets get ready for bed yeah?" He says giving your back a pat. You nod and stand up going to your bag. "Man it stinks... I'm sorry..." You say and he only smiles. "Don't worry about it. We can wash everything tomorrow. I already have a toothbrush for you here. It's the (Y/F/C) colored one" You nod and head to the bathroom. Being in the bathroom together was weird but familiar. It seemed almost domestic in a way as if you have done this a thousand times before. When you both leave the bathroom you see him climbing up to the top bunk. "Wait Peter you sleep on the bottom." He shakes his head from above. "Don't worry about it okay?" You were about to protest when he puts a finger to his lips and you sigh. You climb in the bottom bunk and look up. "Good night Pete..." You says turning on your side facing toward the wall. "Good night (Y/N)." He says. You both soon find yourself falling asleep.
