I wake up in the middle of the night to the sound of banging.

Oh dangit, I think. I left the door to the balcony open again.

I have been woken up by subtle sounds all night, but I thought they were coming from the hallway. Now I knew they were coming from outside. I decide not to close the door, though, when I see where the sounds are coming from.

Ben's room.

Weighing my options, I move towards the door, uncertainty turning into doubt. Should I jump? Or should I forget this ever happened? I'm leaning towards going back to bed when he walks over to the door. He's seen me.

"Faith, get over here."

He sounds upset but also embarrassed. He looks like he's trying to be normal but it's not working; he's smiling like a killer.

"O-ok..." I stammer, stepping carefully towards the railing. I perch precariously on the edge, and make a wild leap. I barrel into him, jumping surprisingly far. He was right - this will take some getting used to. I mutter a "sorry" into his bare chest, before I realize. I break away from him and stumble backward, hitting the railing. I stare at him wide-eyed.

"I guess we both have some explaining to do," he says.
