Chapter 13: Turning Scars Into Stars
"I'm a doctor, not a writer!" Levi moans at Taryn while burying his head into his hands. Jo and him had decided to visit Taryn at her apartment. It was the third day of Levi desperately trying to write his wedding vows and he had confessed he needed help, a lot of help. Jo is making tea as Levi and Taryn sit on the couch.
"You should just, speak from the heart," Taryn suggests. Levi rolls his eyes at that.
"I can name all the parts of the heart, but speaking from it seems a lot more difficult," he says and shakes his head.
"You are like the most honest person on the planet, Levi," Jo says as she carries over three cups of tea, "Wasn't the whole issue with you and Nico that you shared too much and he didn't share enough?"
Levi sighs, "I guess you're right. But that stuff usually just comes out before I even have a chance to think about it. This is important, it needs to be perfect."
"Nothing is ever perfect, Levi. What you have there is pretty... good," Jo says and reaches for the piece of paper. She reads it and her eyebrows rise a bit, "it's... okay."
Levi growls at that. He had never had a gift with writing, in high school he had barely passed his writing units.
"Don't worry, you have us. We will help," Taryn says and puts his hand on Levi's shoulder in comfort.
They take another 30 minutes to try and write his vows, but then Levi gets so frustrated that he doesn't want to continue anymore. They end up watching a reality show for a bit, and then Levi has to go and meet Nico at Joe's to go over a few things regarding the wedding.

Levi enters Joe's pub and spots Nico immediately in one of the booth's in the back. He walks to his fiancé and smiles.
"Hey," Levi greets him.
"Hey, you," Nico greets him back. Levi is ready to just leave a short kiss on his lips, but Nico gets up, wraps his arms around Levi and places a soft, deep kiss on his lips that lingers for a while. Levi smiles into it and wraps his arms around him as well.
"What was that for?" He asks when Nico lets go and they sit down next to each other.
"Just because," Nico says and smirks. Levi's heart sings in his chest.
Turns out they had both been a bit too optimistic to think they could get married after just one week. They realised they both had double shifts for two days in a row, and getting people to shuffle their schedules on such a short notice proved to be very difficult. They had both caved, and agreed to get married in three weeks instead of one week, just to give themselves some breathing room.
Right now, however, it is only four days before the big day and they are meeting to go over everything that still needs to be done. Levi opens the planner he brought and brings out the checklist he had written before. He reaches for the pen and starts to read aloud to Nico.
"Okay, did you find that cake we wanted? Chocolate with vanilla frosting?" Levi asks, ready to check things off the list.
"Yes, it will be delivered to the restaurant the night before," Nico says.
"The suits?"
"I will pick them up on Friday before my shift," Nico confirms.
"The rings?"
"I got them today," Nico says and smirks.
"You got them already? Oh my God, show me!" Levi looks up from the checklist, his expression excited.
