Time flew by as the season changed and snow began to fall on the ground. The Yule Ball quickly approached as everyone mustered the courage to get dates and find their perfect outfits for the evening. The girls dorm was bustling with commotion as everyone scrambled to finish up their makeup and any final touches for the ball. Ellie stood in the bathroom looking in mirror and couldn't help but feel a slight touch of nervousness begin to form in her stomach. She pressed down on the soft blue fabric of her dress and sighed looking into the mirror once more. Her father had heard of the dance coming up and sent her the dress along with a lovely note. The dress was a beautiful shade of blue with layers ontop of layers of tulle and sparkles flowing down covering her legs and feet. Smooth, satin fabric covered her waist up to the neckline of the dress as well as balls of tulle resting elegantly on her shoulders. The dress was gorgeous and Ellie truly felt like a princess but that wasn't what made this dress so special to her. This dress was her mothers.

From the pictures of her mother she had seen, Ellie could tell that her mother was quite the fashionable woman. In his note, Sirius mentioned that her mother wore this dress to their very first ball together as husband and wife. Ellie smiled when she read the note as she imagined how lovely her mother would have looked and also couldn't help but laugh at the thought of her father waltzing at a ball.

Ellie quickly clipped on a simple charm bracelet and let out a deep breath as she took one final look at herself. Hermione had done her hair for her as her orange curls fell loosely behind her back with the front strands pinned back and out of her face. Her makeup was minimal with a slight pink tint on her cheeks as well as some dainty earrings to piece everything together.

"Ellie! Come on or we're going to be late!", she heard Hermione yell out from outside of the bathroom. "I'm coming!", she yelled out as she smiled to herself and opened the bathroom door to step out into the dorm.

"Oh, El...", she heard Hermione say as she looked up at her best friend and saw the look of awe on her face. Hermione wore a floor length pink chiffon gown with a tiered skirt that turned a deeper shade of pink with each layer. She looked absolutely amazing as Ellie smiled at her and walked up to her and took her hands.

"You look beautiful El. I'm certain George might faint when he sees you.", Hermione said making them both laugh at the thought. "And I'm sure Krum will be delighted when he sees how exquisite you look 'mione.", she said back to her with a kind a smile as Hermione tried to hide the growing blush that crept up onto her face. Hermione quickly grabbed Ellie's hand in hers and pulled her towards the door as they made their way to the Great Hall where the ball was being held. They met Angelina on the way who looked amazing in her dress as well as the three of them held hands and continued their way to the ball. Ellie smiled as Angelina told them how excited she was to dance with Fred and made the other two girls promise that they would all have a dance together.

Once they reached near the entrance to the Great Hall Hermione parted ways as she was to walk in with the champions alongside Victor Krum. "Shall we?", Ellie said as she playfully bowed to Angelina who laughed and bowed to Ellie, "We shall.", Angelina said as they walked arm-in-arm into the ball. Elli gasped in awe as she looked around at the beautiful decorations on display as snow fell from the ceiling. Round tables with fancy glassware surrounded the room as three tall christmas trees stood at the front of the hall. Ellie was so amazed at how magical the hall looked that she hadn't noticed everyone staring at she and Angelina walked in.
