"has anyone seen liv? i haven't seen her all day."

"doesn't she ride with you to school?" jaeden asked with a confused look.

"yeah, but i sent john to pick her up this morning." emily said with a shrug as if it was nothing.

"wait my brother? chance is he never did pick her up. you know how bad he is with directions." lauren scoffed.

"i texted him in the morning and he said he'd picked her up and they'd be here soon."

"so what happened?" lauren asked

"i tried calling both of them when they missed first period, but their phones were turned off." emily explained and a small sigh escaped her lips.

"is anyone going to say it or should i?" jaeden asked, looking from lauren to emily.

"don't you dare!" lauren warned and made a gagging noise. "that is disgusting."

"isn't it odd that they're both missing? and we know for sure that they're together." jaeden said defensively, but held his hands up in surrender when lauren gave him a pointed look.

"yeah well keep that opinion to yourself before mackenzie hears you." emily whispered harshly, pointing to the opposite end of the hall where mackenzie was coming towards them.

emily pulled out her phone and pretended to be so engrossed by it while jaeden pulled out his chemistry textbook and began reading it, while lauren pretended to be trying to open her locker.

"what's going on?" mackenzie asked as she came to a stop in front of the three teens.

"hm? hey i didn't see you." emily said innocently and lifted her eyes from her screen.

"okay now i'm convinced you guys are up to something." mackenzie said and placed both her hands on her hips.

"now why would you say that?" emily questioned and nervously rubbed the back of her neck.

"because lauren is trying to open a locker that isn't hers, and her boyfriend is reading a book! everyone knows jaeden can't read" mackenzie scoffed and dropped her hands."

"he's not my boyfriend!"

"i'm not her boyfriend!"

lauren and jaeden argued, quickly pausing their highly suspicious activities, whilst emily and mackenzie both rolled their eyes at them.

"anyways, have any of you seen john?" mackenzie asked and looked to the three of them.

"no! i don't recall seeing him at all today." emily lied and let out a nervous chuckle.

"do you know where your brother is?" she asked as she turned to lauren who shook her head furiously.

"not at all."

"but you come to school with him."

"not today. i rode with jaeden." lauren said and quickly put her hand over her mouth, turning to jaeden who had his head in his hand and was shaking it.

"oooooh so i guess laeden is a thing now." emily laughed and wiggled her eyebrows.

"what the fuck is a laeden?" jaeden asked causing emily and mackenzie to laugh harder .

"it's a ship name we created for you two." mackenzie laughed and pointed between jaeden and lauren.

"well it's not even creative." jaeden said with a roll of his eyes.

"oh, but it is. anyways if any of you see john let him know i've been looking for him, okay?" mackenzie sighed and turned to walk away

"will do!" emily shouted a little too suspiciously, causing the brunette to turn back and give her a suspicious look, but she eventually walked away.
