Waking Up

The first thing Marcy did when she woke up was freak out.

Marcy had not been outside her own conscience for a very long time. She couldn't remember, nor did she feel like remembering, the last time she was on The Outside, but it might have been when Olivia and Yunan tried to rescue her from King Andrias' clutches. She wasn't in her right mind at the time, and she could barely remember a fourth of what happened that day. All she could remember was the loopy, off way she felt and acted, the sickness she felt all throughout her body, a light headed feeling, fear, and then just pure pain. Pain so agonizing she could just barely remember why she was feeling it. The feeling coursed through her veins. Burned, stung, and tortured every single part of her body while she screamed a blood curling scream that she bet even Anne and Sasha could feel in spirit. There was only pain. And then, they heard Andrias speak.

"The time has finally come for The Core to lead us to our destiny. But what destiny, you ask? Well, I suppose I should just let it speak for itself..."

Well, It had pushed Marcy far away, to the back of their mind, so all she could hear was muffled, but she could hear what they said loud and clear.

"Why, hello there..."

And that was that. That was the last time Marcy was fully present. It mainly controlled their actions. Only It could see or hear most of the time. The only times she could see the destruction were when It forced her to watch. The only things she could do were think, and feel, and remember.

So when she first fluttered her eyes open and realized she was on The Outside, she screeched.

At least, the best she could. She didn't know how long it had been, but everyone around her knew she had been passed out on a hospital bed with life support for a month and a half.

Saying she was scared was an understatement. She could see and realize that she was on The Outside, but she couldn't process what she was seeing. All she knew was that she did not want to be there.

She screamed and cried, pleading that "I don't want to see it! Please don't make me see it!" Her throat was dry and hoarse. She had started to cough up a little blood before the nurses barged in, hearing the commotion.

They may have been nurses, but all she could see were victims. People It wanted her to watch as they tortured and killed. People they hurt who once looked up to her as an idol. It didn't even register that the nurses were human. As she began to feel like her (slightly damaged) lungs were taking in less and less air, Marcy hyperventilated.

She didn't let them come closer. She screamed "Don't come closer! Run away before we hurt you!" And yelled nonsense that only made sense to her as she writhed on the stiff hospital bed. She went on until the nurses put her back to sleep.

The second time Marcy woke up, Anne and Sasha stood around her staring at her with worry, anticipation, and hope.

Her eyes slowly blinked open, trying to make sense of her surroundings but to no avail. The second she saw people and realized she was on The Outside again her breath hitched.

She nearly had another freak out, bleary eyes widening even though it hurt (The bright hospital lights weren't helping). She began with a scratchy voice that only just started talking after weeks of being idle,"Stop it! Stop showing me, I don't wanna see it! Run before we hurt you-!"

"...Marcy? Marcy please! You're safe now! I-it's me! It's Anne! A-Anne and Sasha!" And Anne was crying. Crying and holding Marcy's hand as if Marcy would disappear if Anne's grip loosened for just a second.
