The day started normal for Olgi, waking up at the crack ass of dawn, to do things they love, travel.
Currently, they were exploring, which was really just visiting, their grandparents. They all agreed to set camp in the woods surrounding their small home, and currently, while they were sleeping, Olgi decided to hike through the trail leading to the house, it was a long walk, but a good way to fully awake they suppose.
So, as the crisp cold air that shone through the leaves surrounding them dawned a new day, the𝘆 tied their steel toe boots, and slipped on a vest, better safe than sorry, they didn't like the cold anyways.
The walk was normal, the sound of leaves crunching under their feet, soft chirping of birds, the occasional getting smacked in the face by a tree branch, it was generally very relaxing, it was still early morning, so as they stopped to sit down on a fallen trunk of a tree, they could see their breath accumulate like as if a tired cloud, from their chapped lips.
Where they that unfit to be tired already? It had only been ten minutes, the sun hasn't even rose fully yet. Maybe it has been a while since they have walked this long, but the𝘆 didn't know why they felt so... Exhausted. They felt cold, and not a good refreshing kind, like a numb pain kind like...
Gasping, they look down at their left calf, where the feeling originated, and saw a small brown spider, crawl away, its small body scampering into some leaves. Panic filled their body as they lifted their leg into better view. That was a brown recluse... Why was there a brown recluse in colombia? Besides the point, they saw some redness, and low and behold, a bite in the shape of two small wholes, a spider bite.
Fuck, shit, oh god. They didn't know anything about spiders, alone from some types, how were they going to treat it? They were too far away to get help in time, even if they ran, the town was an hour away by car.. So doing the only rational thing they could think of, instead of actually getting help, they decided to kill the spider.
Not run to their family while they still could, or scream for help. Go into the bushes somewhere off trail, and kill the most likely long gone spider, which will probably kill them with how long it will take, instead.
Stomping, or more walking at a fast pace, towards the leaves Olgi saw the spider crawl under, they stepped, stomped, hell even jumped on the leaves, but instead of hearing the crunching of a small insect, or really any other appropriate sound, they hear a 𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘬 sound, like they had stepped on glass.
Maybe it was the delusion, stupidity, or pure curiosity, but possibly risking another spider bite, they blindly reached their hand into the brown and orange mass of leaf, and felt something.. Like a necklace? Pulling it out they were met face to face with a emerald necklace.
It looked new, despite them stepping on it. A little worn, but in good condition, it's rather large shiny green rock situated between the necklaces silver string, reflected off the sun, and to Olgi's surprise, a small message was scribbled onto the surface, it wasn't very visible, but they could make it out.
Tilting it towards the light, ignoring the sudden fuzziness, they pushes their glasses up their nose bridge, and roughly make out Tienes el don de alterar lo que no necesita ser cambiado. Altering? Alter what? What need not be changed? It made no sense, maybe it was a heirloom, or a necklace a tourist lost?
Although it was fun to ignore their dire situation, the sudden giving out of their legs snapped them out of their lucid state and to, what could most likely be death. Looking around, they saw the sun come up, had it already been an hour? Hours? Their brain was fuzzy, the world was blotched, and their body like a sweaty slab of ice.
They didn't think dying was so.. Honestly numb feeling, it didn't hurt, and they couldn't really comprehend what was going on, did they even read the message right? Was it even spanish? Was their even a message? A necklace even? They didn't know, and honestly couldn't even form a coherent thought.
It wasn't all bad though, they lay slowly on the wet forest floor, the vines and mud happily welcomes them.. Maybe they could be grown into a beautiful tree if it rains? Oh.. It's so cold, they would rather not be sick, Abuela would be too worried, maybe some soup- soup is good..
They noticed how the birds no longer chirped, and the heart beating against their ribcage began to stop but looking down they noticed something just as peculiar, why were they wearing a amulet?
It didn't matter much, but with the last coherence that they could swear with, they swore they had tossed it, maybe dropped it. Was it just their mind playing tricks?
Nevertheless, they doubt it would play tricks again, seeing that they didn't continue to breath when the elderly couple that came searching for them after they had been gone for the whole day.
They found Olgi's poor body a good while away from their spot, catatonic as it layed on the wet floor, covered in sweat, and what appeared to be.. Blood?
During all this, Olgi felt like they were floating, and crash landed in another world. A sudden flash of music, dancing, tears, green, blood. So many things flooded them, until it was all white, the sound of white, the color invading their senses. If this was death, it wasn't nice.
Death would have been welcomed with open arms if Olgi knew what fate had in store for them.

The amulet reads "You hold the gift to alter what need not be changed." sorry if its not fully correct, I used google translate.
Also, enjoy the story. :))
