Simeone POV
IN A CONFERENCE ROOM\\ 9:00 AM
Sitting across from someone I once thought would be my lifetime partner. Someone I once was in love with, we now sit on opposite sides of a table, joined by our lawyers to start this process of a divorce.
"My client, as stated on paper wants the home they once own together in Northwest, Northwood Rivera, both vehicles bought during the marriage, spousal maintenance which would be $5000 monthly, a payment of $13 000 for therapy due to spousal distress and most importantly, full custody of their daughter E'leana Isabel Richards," Erica's attorney spoke forcing me to bite my tongue and let my lawyer do the talking for me before I cuss her ass out.
I was pissed and even that was an understatement. Pissed that after our discussion about cutting everything in half, including parenting E'leana, it went all down the drain on her part. Everything I have, she wants, and all for what, revenge?
"With all due respect Hendrick and Miss Erica, that was not the original plan according to what I was told by my client Mr. Richard."
"And what was that?"
"Here," he put out on the table a piece of paper signed by both her and I at the time of our departure, "It says here, on this paper that 'If we are to divorce or separate, all assets such as houses and cars would be shared as well as custody of any children or animals.'"
"What?" she leaned forward to read the paper, "Is this legible, it's not a prenup."
"Oh yes ma'am, it has been through the fax machine so it is legible. Or I wouldn't have presented it to you today. And is that not your signature Miss Erica?"
"No, no, no, this is outdated and your unfit to be a full time parent Simeone. With all the 'work' you do."
"Oh really?" I then leaned forward myself, "And you are with all that travelling you do?"
"Mr. Richards please, let me do the talking. Since this seemed to be outdated in your eyes Miss Erica, here, I have a new temporary preposition that will be continued until final decisions are made as you two go through this process of divorcing."
"What is this?"
"It's about shared custody," he put out the paper for her with a pen to sign, "This is a copy I have for you to sign and keep after you sign ours. You will have your daughter on mainly weekdays and on some holidays, those days are stated as you continued to read on; while Mr. Richards gets to have her on weekends, from Friday afternoons or Saturday mornings, including some holidays. Those dates are also stated on the paper as well."
"No, we are not singing," her attorney declared.
"Well if you don't my client and I will have no choice but to take what we have, which clearly has Miss Erica's signature on it, meaning she agreed to it, to a judge and that's a long process within it self. I don't think you would want that, do you Miss Erica?"
Erica glared at me with rage. I know her blood was boiling but she should've known what she was getting herself into before filing those papers.
"Fine, I'll sign," she took up a black ink pen and signed on the dotted lines.
"Any questions? No, but might I add that this is a trail for the next 3 months and will be renewed once that period is over at the end of May."
