"Groverner Square, 1813.

Dearest reader, the time has come to place our bets for the upcoming social season.

Consider the Household of the Baron Featherington. "

The Baroness Featherington glowered impatiently, hands on her hips as she watched the laces of her daughters corset pulled so forcefully as if they were strings of cheese.

"Three misses foisted upon the marriage market like sorrowful sows by their tasteless..."

"Tighter."

 "...tactless mama."

"Tighter!" The Baroness Featherington pushed aside the poor handmaid who, upon tightening the corset, just about broke the girl's rib as she let out a painful gasp, and aided in restraining her waist.

"Is she to breathe, Mama?" Asked their young daughter so innocently.

"I was able to squeeze my waist into the size of an orange and a half when I was Prudence's age. Your sister shall do the same," said the Baroness curtly.

The poor girl held in a whimper as, with each passing second, her waist grew smaller and smaller.

"Far better odds might exist in the household of the widowed Viscountess Bridgerton.

A shockingly prolific family noted for its bounty of perfectly handsome sons and perfectly beautiful daughters."

"I am already roasting."

"Are you to complaint the entire day, Eloise?"

"Surely I cannot be expected to bear these fashions the entire day."
