We had made all the necessary preparations for the journey. I had worn my new clothes and had packed alot more in my bags. Father had bought gifts and treats for our extended family as usual and mom was nicely dressed in her vintage dress which was one of many in her collection, everything else was perfect for this long drive.
As per my mom's advice father had taken the car to the local garage for a service a week before and the car came back polished and new looking. We were certain that we would get to our destination without any hiccups and glitches.
At the strike of noon we set off on our journey and to our luck there wasn't any traffic on the way.
As we sped past the calm highway I sat quietly at the back listening to the seductive lyrics of Ariana grande on my treasured Samsung ipod, I had gotten it from my grandmother, a few months before she left us all alone on this green planet as a gift for doing well on my exams.
It felt as tho seconds turned to minutes and minutes got replaced by hours but when I looked on my smart watch it had only just clocked on the 3rd quarter, I sighed a heavy breath and chirped in with some jokes to my parents as my father drove, I looked out the window and at this one moment I wished I could savour these feelings and put them in a museum so I could later revisit them,we were happy ,like truly happy.
After a couple of minutes I felt my eye lids grow heavy and I gently cradled my face in my arms and stretched out on the back seat and fell into slumber land.I dreamt about playing with my friends in the hills and I had expected to wake up with the car still driving.
