Okay, maybe you can already tell I have daddy issues, but it's not like that.
You have to have a dad to have daddy issues. I don't have one. There's a difference.
Deciding to ignore the call, I pick up my phone and read the text from my mom, letting me know that she knew where I was going and that it was okay.
I inspect the damage and notice a small crack on the top of my phone. It could be worse.
The bell rang. I groan, I can't take this right now.
Dropping my phone on the counter, I walk to the door, wondering who could be knocking.
As soon as I opened it, I let out a gasp.
It was Kate. She was sobbing, letting out wails that made my heart crack.
I pulled her into my arms, saying sweet whispers of things she likely couldn't hear but needed.
"Kate, whats wrong?"
She looked at me with her bloodshot blue eyes, the ones that normally held happiness and protection now held pain and dark secrets. she didn't answer.
I pull her under my arms and guide her through the house, tuck her into my bed and let her nestle into my side while she sobbed.
In a few minutes she stopped, it happened slowly and her whole face was still red but she stopped. One of the many reasons was because she was probably asleep. I heard the doorbell ring again, and got up with the determination to tell whoever was at the door to kiss my fat ass.
I stop in front of the door and decide to make extra precautions and pull my hood up. Then I opened the door getting ready to yell.
Crap. It was Julia and Nick. I completely forgot with my dad calling and Kate that I told them to come over so we can do the project.
Okay, this is fine.
"Hey," Julia says, her lips curving up in a pretty smile.
I shake my head at her, and go to close the door. I can't let them in but I don't want to talk. Technically I never said I couldn't talk but..
"Hey! You told us to come over today, what are you doing?"
I shake my head again.
"Is this not a good time or something?"
I shake my head, singling no.
"Can we come back later?"
I shake my head again.
"But then we only have tomorrow to do it, its due next week and you're not available at all."
I put up a finger, telling them to wait. I walk back to the kitchen and grab my phone.
'It's just not a good time right now, come back tomorrow or do it without me.'
I hand my phone to her. She sighs, and then does something on it that has me aching to take it back.
She then hands it back, making my lips quirk up in a smile.
She added their numbers.
Julia waves and says a quiet bye, leaving.
I almost forgot about Nick who turned to me. He sent me a boyish grin that irritated me, and then he left.
Man I just wanted to go to Kate's house to take a nap.
